Iris Scanner Camera Removal?

There probably isn't an answer to this, but I set up my Iris Scanner. I turn off my phone, turned it back on and swipe like how I usually unlock it, and then this terrible quality camera is in the top of the screen, is there a way to remove that and JUST ONLY have the iris scanner red light shine? I know you can make the iris scanner pop as soon as you open your phone, but I don't want that... Just want to press the power button, swipe, scan (with no camera)...

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. The iris scanner only uses the front camera to position the scanner to scan your irises.

I think they may mean the camera feed of themselves? I am not sure how you would make sure your eyes are lined up in the right place if the camera of you was off. I put one of the overlays over it so I don't scare myself as much every time my ugly mug appears when lining up my eyes :-)

I can't use iris scanner, sadly, I have glasses with transitions, and vary-focals 😮

What do you mean by transitions? Are you talking about the Transitions lenses that get darker and lighter automatically? I can see how that would not work when outside, but it should work inside.

What do you mean by vary-focals? Are they like bi-focals or the no-line bifocals? That shouldn't matter, the Iris scanner should still be able to focus enough on your eyes to get a good scan.

The iris scanner scans without the need of popping the camera up, so I want that camera to be removed to not see myself.. And the allignment is something I'll get use to...

There's a option for that. It'll start the Iris scanner as soon as you turn on your display without showing that feedback on the top of the screen. You dont have to swipe to activate the irisscanner.]You will have to get used to the alignment. Screenshot_20171027-085412.jpg

I know that, but I want to swipe THEN have the iris scanner scanning my eyes without the camera popping up... And I'm pretty sure there is no answer for that...

That's an interesting question, I'm glad someone offered a solution that I will try. I hate that weird low quality image I have to look at when I unlock.

Whoa! I turned that on and tried it. It was really fast...I'm mean less than a second fast. Thanks for the tip!

Yes, I have transition lenses and bifocals with line, I've tried and tried, it's not happening, I'm not bothered I use the fingerprint.
Ps I've ordered new glasses with varifocals (no line) and transition lenses. We will see what happens.

Interesting. I use reading glasses and I've had (mostly) no issues with using the iris scanner while wearing them. Lighting does make a difference. If you are positioned in such a way that you are getting a reflection off of the lenses, then yes, it could affect how well the iris scanner works.

I use both fingerprint reader and iris scanner. It just depends on what I'm doing or how I'm holding it when I unlock it. To be fair, I use the fingerprint reader more than the iris scanner.

I don't think the transition lenses will cause an issue. Unless it's blocking the frequency of light being detected by the iris scanner. The scanner works fine through my sunglass, glasses (less consistently), and motorcycle helmet visors (mine hadr an inner tinted and clear outer). The bifocals might be the issue as it may not be able to compensate for the line. Even if you set it while wearing the glasses, you would likely have to like up the scanner, glasses and your eyes the same each time as the distorted area caused by the line may not be over the same part of your iris each time.

My phone is always unlocked due to my Gear S3, but this option does make it unlock a lot faster when out of range. Thanks.

No one answered my question.. I either wasn't explaining properly or there is no solution..

No you can't remove the camera, nor can you turn it off. It uses the front facing camera so you can position the phone properly for the scanner to scan your eyes.

Yea that's what I thought, thanks.. I don't really care about the positioning... I just want it off cause it just looks bad... All I want is the red light showing AFTER I swipe.
