Hi,
I've searched this forum and tried some of the common fixes forbthis problem but nothing has worked so far.
I've got a galaxy s6, and I've had the memory nearly full message several times. I've deleted loads of in necessary bit and the numbers don't add up. I've got the 32gb, but 29 gb is system useage- this seems excessive to me.
I have the new update ready to download but there isn't enough data to do so.
I'm hoping you guys will be able to help me.
Many thanks.
If you need screenshots of anything, I can provide them.
Jenny.

How do I attach a screen shot? It still says that 23gb is system useage. That seems really high.

I have captured the screenshot (that was something I do know how to do) its how to attach it to this message that i cant work out.

On the bottom row of icons, there's a globe (create a link), a globe with a little red thing at the bottom (change a link into plain text), then Insert Image is next.

Ok, so I think I need to upload it to my laptop and send it from there as i get options to look through files in my computer. I will try to do this. Thankyou for the help.

I think I've done it. I also included a screenshot from the app that was suggested to show size of files. Hopefully this information will help you guys to help me. Thankyou.

I believe the answer is now in front of you. Yup you're using it. Where to begin, clear the cache and reboot, put all the photos and videos you can on the cloud or move to an SD CARD. Move apps to the SD card. Facebook and Messenger are using alot as you can see, and your Samsung internet must have never have been cleared. I'll check your progress later. Good luck.

I've used the settings to optimise, and thought I had cleared the cache, but obviously not. I'll try and work out how to do that then. I believe these phones don't have an option for sd card, I'm gonna feel really silly if they have and I've missed it for the last year! What is the thumbnail storage then? Thankyou for helping.

I used the power button, volume and home key and cleared the cache, but I'm obviously doing something wrong, coz this is what it looks like now.

How is the internet using so much? And how do I clear it? It looks no different to before I cleared the cache?

Hello Jen, welcome to the forums! Those steps with the physical buttons that you mentioned wipe the cache partition. This process clears system cache files, but doesn't free any storage. It's completely different than clearing the app cache files.

It's strange that you don't get an option to clear all cached data under settings -storage. You could try clearing cache individually for those apps with bigger files (cloudagent, gallery, Internet, WhatsApp, YouTube ...).

Also, see if you can upload some of your media files (tons of them) and delete them locally to gain some space.

Can you go to your provider store? You can get your phone working fine, but it will just fill back up without you changing a few settings and learning a little. Good luck.
P. S. Open the browser, open the browsers settings, and then find the history and cache in the app/browser.

I moved your thread to the S6 forum where it'll be easier getting feedback from other owners.
