Is 4g really that important

Yes. I've had times where I have left my phone alone for a while and then suddenly I see that little hourglass type symbol and even if I can do anything, it takes forever to do it. Have to battery pull at that point and then wait close to 5 minutes for it to boot.

5 minutes? Luck you... mine takes 14 minutes, and that is not exaggerating.

That's just awful. Sorry that you have to deal with such a long wait, of course not like it can do much once it finishes loading. Actually mine only takes 5 minutes because it is a newer one. Had to get my first Storm replaced last Fall.

Battery and email are the only highlights for a Storm. I sometimes wish I had upgraded to a DInc or DX, but for some strange reason I didn't think it would take Verizon so long to come out with a dual core phone.

Sounds like my house I used to be on satellite, now I just use and EVDO modem. Its costly and I have to manage my bandwidth (podcast downloads at work, etc). So I know how you feel.

I',m in the same stormy boat as several of you here. My contract ended 4-21. Now I'm trying to be patient for the Bionic release.

same thing. I'm on a storm 9530 and have 2 upgrades available so I'm waiting for the bionic. And for the first time, the stock screen protector sticker finally came off yesterday.

4g sounds great but is is that important. I mean VZW 3g is pretty good and videos usually take a few seconds to buffer. I am just wondering is it worth it to wait for the bionic for another phone wig similar specs that is just 3g.

You say that now and I see where you're coming from but when hardware and software that can really take advantage of those superior speeds you won't say that in the future.

4G LTE smokes 3G, so... YES, definetely improtant in device evolution

Very important to me, waiting for a map or app to load is a big issue for me. My main issue is battery life, then speed/performance.

Stable LTE that can bounce down to 3g quickly if needed? Very important to me who doesn't have access to wi-fi during the day.

My charge jumped to 4g to 3g constantly yesterday during a road trip as needed and stayed in 3g when we got to the destination (as expected). I was very happy to say the least

I'm on my Charge right now and it does great at handoffs. I can usually switch back and forth fast enough to not even notice in the middle of a video. Again I repeat, after having had my Charge for about a week now, I wouldn't say I "settled" at all.

I want 4G but its not a deal breaker. I could easily go with the Droid 3 if there are anymore problems with the Bionic as it is very rare for me not to be in range of a WiFi.

The Bionic and 4G is coming to the rest of my city by the end of the summer..... So it works out perfect.

My city is getting LTE this year,so if I gotta get a 20 month or 2 year contract,I'm moving towards LTE myself.

Short answer, yes and you'll see why later in the post.

Try using 4G for a few days then decide. I'm in NYC and I love it. It makes the general experience of using a phone browser much better

This is exactly what I told my wife. We went in to upgrade her phone on Saturday and she said that she really didn't care about LTE and I told her that she may not think she cares, but once she uses it, she will see a huge difference.

I had the thunderbolt for a few days , took it back because of the battery life. Reactivated my Droid Incredible. Boy does my phone feel slow now when surfing the web. I have to hurry and get another 4g phone.

Wow, that was a mistake. The battery life gets much better after the first week or so. I just got the wife the Revolution on Saturday and I told her not to freak out about the battery because it will take about a week for the battery to break in and get used to the way she uses the phone.

I get 28kdown/8k up at my house and the same at work. So yes its important :)

My fastest speedtest...
