Hi, I'm new to Android Central, but not to Android: I've been with it since ICS and the very popular Micromax Canvas 2, since 2013, and I'm now using a Moto E.
Okay, I know Moto E has 4GB of storage (that's why I have a 16gig SD card); but have you ever thought if 8GB, only 8gigs of fixed storage - no SD cards here - was/is enough for you?

No.
I need 32 GB.

While for me 8GB isn't Enough (my 16gb memory card is half full), I saw this article about a person filling the 8GB Moto G: look up "is 8GB of internal memory enough" and click on the link that is from Howardforums.com (I can't post links)
After filling it up the available 5GB of storage, he still had 2.3GB space left. So, he says, while 8GB may appear small, it is enough for the average user.

I have a 16 GB phone with no expandable storage, since I'm not a heavy gamer or store a whole lot of media, I've been fine.

8GB should be fine, but if you ever download a HD movie onto your phone be sure to delete it after you've seen it and try to store your images and videos on the cloud instead of the internal storage.
