Is a case needed?

I too have the black Otterbox Commuter on my Turbo with the Ballistic Nylon back. It fits very well and there isn't any looseness to the case. It slips easy into my pocket and like Firebird said previously, the sides are grippy so it isn't slippery to hold.

It's like motorcycle jackets. You only need it to protect whatever you don't want broken. If there's nothing you care about breaking then I wouldn't worry about it.

For those interested, I heard back from Diztronic in regards to my email - the rep indicated they will have their cases ready by Thanksgiving.

Stopped by the Verizon Store last night to pick up a case. They tell me their system is down so they can't sell me anything. Of course, this morning I go to pull the phone out of my pocket getting into the car and fumble it, and it bounces and slides on the asphalt, ending up face down. It took some damage on the top left corner and some road rash at various other points, but fortunately didn't even scratch the screen. It's in a Commuter now, also have the Tudia on preorder. I carried my RAZR Maxx HD naked for two years with a number of similar drops and nothing but cosmetic damage, but the Kevlar was more grippy than the nylon, and I feel like the odds are going to beat me on this one if I don't case it.
