You know I wasn't expecting much. I'm been generally unimpressed with both Android and iPhones of late, but I got a new Pixel for the camera. I never buy new phones, so I was waiting to see what a brand spanking new "clean Android experience" would offer over my old HTC One M9 (well customized). I figured it would be like 8 or 9 but more polished. Wow this thing is such a turd! Yes it is responsive and doesn't hard reset often and only hangs up in the browser a couple of times a day (it does though). But the settings and security is a complete train wreck. They must have been facing huge malware issues in 9 for this. The interface is a train wreck with app settings all over the place. Very counter-intuitive. The security is so radically different that critical apps like clipper are broken, and of course Google didn't offer any new base functionally so I'm just doing work arounds. The keyboard is just as bad, which is pretty effing bad, almost unusable, and zero added features. Even native apps keep asking for the same permissions over and over. Overall this phone is step backwards from HTC sense running Android 6 on a One M9, except for the camera. The select tool is slightly new but they STILL didn't bother to fix the "scrolling while selecting" glaring, idiotic bugs. I'm really disappointed but half expected it and no longer care to work through this crap. Will be passing this thing onto family once the Pinephone is complete. At least with FOSS Linux it's worth solving problems. Android is now just a phone flipping strategy to maximize Google's profit.
