Is anyone going to switch to the Surface?

I was just wondering about this because when the surface was announced many android users were excited about it and wanted to jump ship to it. But then the nexus 7 was announced and every android fan rejoiced and rushed to the play store to pre order one. I thought 7 in was too small for a tablet, but then I got the nexus 7 and I like 7in a lot more than 10 inches. It's mainly the portability that seals the deal for me. The only edge that the surface has, at least IMO, is that it is almost like a real PC, except in a tablet. The surface will probably have the best Microsoft office integration available, but that's it. The app ecosystem is probably not as good as the play store, and the surface might be too big, and too much like a PC to carry around. So, are any of you nexus 7 owners going to switch to the surface when it comes out?

No, I'm good with the Nexus 7 I've got. I still have my TouchPad as well. Won't need another tablet for awhile.

I'll likely get a surface just for work purposes. Would love to have actual windows integration on a tablet that I can work from. I'll still primarily use my asus tablet though, for all things media, entertainment, etc. around the house.

The sad part is people thinking the Surface tablet will be anything like a PC. Windows Metro will have no real abilities to run x86 structured software. MS office metro will not be a full featured software anything like MS Office.

Its got to be better than the office type apps for android though, right? Or no? If not, then what is the big deal with windows 8/metro/surface etc? I thought it was all supposed to integrate things?

The only appealing part of surface is the office aspect. If we could get a worf processor that reads and allows for editing of .doc/.docx files I would not even give it a second thought. As it is, it would be pretty hard to get me to switch the size is just too perfect and it does too many other things too well.

I plan on getting a Surface Pro when it's released to replace my ultra book, but I'll definitely be keeping my Nexus 7.

yeah...but then there's the Surface Pro

I'm looking forward to the surface specifically for work purposes. I think the surface is going to completely take the business market from the ipad, at least in markets where the windows operating system is dominant. As was stated in a previous post, it will be great to have a windows integrated tablet for business environments.

So you are actually getting the surface to replace your laptop, and not your tablet. This is what I mean, the surface seems more like a laptop to me, rather than a tablet.

I have a windows phone, but it didnt stop me ordering a nexus 7. It's great value and an ideal size for consuming media. However, I'll definitely be getting a Surface, it looks like a genuinely great product.

Yup. I got a Windows Phone the day it came out and will likely get a Surface Tablet, and pass on a WP8 phone, since I bought an S3. I like getting stuff from different platforms that that don't start with the letter "i" ;)

I probably will be using both for different tasks. The Nexus is excellent product to use due to its size and portability, but for actual computing tasks i.e. drafting letters and data bases the Surface will be the one to use running Windows 8 to do actual tasks. Most of the programs you use now on your PC will be compatible on the Surface tablet.
I am using Windows 8 now (Consumer Preview) as my only operating system and I find it to be very fast and does an excellent job.
And as a note I have had no issues or problems with the quality of my Nexus since I purchased same from Office Depot. I have a nice case to protect it and I love it...

P.S I believe the Microsoft Surface will replace the laptop for business use on the run. With the external case, mouse and keyboard setup it will be stiff competition for the all the rest of the tablets.

That was my thought.. .Surface to replace my work laptop, Nexus as my portable media consumption device.

I'll stick with the Nexus 7 for my tablet needs. I might get the Surface Pro to replace my notebook computer though.

Different products, different uses. I'm interested in the Surface Pro for work. I find Google Drive's offline support to be laughable, and DataViz doesn't really hit home for me either.

Why? Windows integration, does that mean released software that has lots of bugs or needs to be rebooted when you install or uninstall something. Nexus 7 is great!!
