When you have a best in-class camera, and it's made by a company everyone knows and uses daily, it's not surprising at all.
I am really surprised that the Pixel 2 XL became so popular though! Every reviewer was complaining about it when it came out.
Pretty much. Case and point, I was testing this device for almost 3 months prior to release, and not only did I not see these "issues" during that period - I did not read of a single person who encountered any of them. That pretty much destroys the idea of, "early versions sucked", it's more like a couple of units MIGHT have had issues, but no one actually knows because almost no one has independantly come to any similar conclusions, before and after Ron's post (when you exclude regurgitations of Ron's post).Perhaps because much of that was a bit of gotcha journalism... Once the feigned internet rage died down and people started using the phone they realized that it was a pretty damn good phone and the issues were quite overblown.
Si, that would require a non metal body or very expensive hardware to bypass the metal body. They wanted the aluminum and increase in durability that comes with it. I emphatically agree with that decision, even though I loved wireless charging on my Nexus phones that came with it.The only thing that surprised me is why a phone of this caliber doesn't have wireless charging. Was there's a reason they didn't include that?
I honestly don't know how popular the pixel series is. besides my phone, I know I have seen one pixel XL and possibly sighted a regular pixel. I have yet to see a pixel 2 or 2xl anywhere other than in store displays. I have seen numerous iPhone X, 8 pluses, note 8's and lg g6's
Thanks for that, I wasn't even aware of the metal body being a factor so it's good to know. Wireless charging is nice to have, but you're right that durability is a better option.Si, that would require a non metal body or very expensive hardware to bypass the metal body. I've seen a couple Pixel 2's (regular and XL) "in the wild". I also noticed they're gaining traction in the entertainment world - Sean Hayes' character (and maybe others) on Will & Grace uses a Panda Pixel 2 XL and I think I've seen some in other shows. It's not really a product placement thing unless you know what you're looking at, they've been careful to hide any logos.
