Is anyone still keeping their V20?

I love the replaceable battery! Sitting here at the airport and watching people scramble for a charging station is hilarious!

T-Mobile has officially announced their variant will be "soon"; while the other variants have not been confirmed that means the "heavy lifting" has already been done and T-Mobile now has to apply their carrier customization stuff to it.

I wouldn't take that as gospel UNLESS you have a T-Mo variant (in which case it should be considered as a commitment) but the odds of the other variants being upgraded are now extremely high, in that the unlocked version needs nothing, and AT&T's would need their carrier changes (but the hard part, as with T-Mo, is done.)

Yup...just checked the official Tmo update tracker and the V20 is now listed as "in development." Good news! You can check for yourself here:

yep I'm keeping it until November when it's paid off. Nothing out right now is tempting me...I really like the removable battery!

Still keeping mine for a bit, so much so I bought another.

Install the LG V30 launcher and it smooth things out.Ypu can also cut animations to half speed if you need it.

You can also try getting a better SD card write and read speed wise and formatting in phone.

The only problem left would be the screen retention issue. You can fix it though but requires root.

Oh and if you want better "AUTO" pictures, install the pixel camera all and you'll have a better camera experience. (Well for quick Auto shots anyway)

I was outside just now, live streaming an NCAA game, when a notification popped up that my battery was low. Did I panic or head for a charger? No, just whipped out a spare, and in less time than it takes to watch an annoying commercial, I was back watching the game with 100 % battery. I'll be keeping my V20 for a while!

On a trip, I carry a spare battery with me. The flights can be long and most of the time, I'm traveling on foot with zero access to power. I don't have time to plug it in and wait an hour for a full charge, depending on a power socket. Just takes 10 seconds to pop open the back and swap batteries. This is seriously convenient and it makes sense for a smartphone. Question that I want to ask is, would you buy a DSLR camera without a removable and replaceable battery? Why not? Why not just plug it in and wait for a full charge.. or use a portable battery pack? It's not convenient and eventually the battery will age and you'll have to throw the battery away. Same thing with a smartphone. Battery replacements are being done for Apple iPhones for the longest time, however, with new the new all glass designs, it's much more difficult and complex, not even worth the hassle. The removal battery is extremely useful and will look back one day missing this simple technology.

Seems as if the screen retention affects certain models. My V20 rarely ever gets it. Some people get it all the time. Possibly different LCD panels inside. An easy fix however, all LCDs have some form of retention which is not permanent.

I'm on the fence about keeping mine. I have an upgrade bug that's biting pretty hard and I also picked up an unlocked blackberry Keyone that I love aside from the lack of ram management.

Biggest issue with the V20 is I only have the original battery that is starting to fade and I am not confident in what I am seeing out there when looking for replacements. Seems like a lot of cheap, junk batteries. Also, probably related to the older battery, turning off my V20 and restarting chews up anywhere from 3-10% of battery power which seems insane to me.

I'm all ears if anyone has any advice.

I'd ask those that frequent this board - any suggestions for a good, replacement battery based on any recent ones that you've purchased?

I first tried a Perfine 6,400mAh battery and it was no better than the OEM capacity. I'm now using a iPossible 6,700 mAh. AccuBattery estimates in the 5,500 mAh range on a full charge. Still not as high as advertised, but noticeably longer than the OEM battery. The case is ok, and I like the added thickness.

Does case have a kickstand?

I just picked up a v20, accubattery was showing the battery that came with it to be at about 83% capacity, only getting 3.5 or 4 hours SOT. Got a new battery tonight from Amazon hopefully it's better.

So far I'm really liking the v20 compared to my previous phone, moto z play. I'm definitely going to miss the battery life but the camera is a lot better

Get a genuine V20 replacement. I have one and it was perfectly fine.

Then install Accubattery and DO NOT CHARGE beyond 80% and also do not float-charge (overnight.) That will materially extend the life of the battery, but of course you give up 20% of capacity to do that.... the problem is that all manufacturers abuse the charging profile on Lithium cells and while LG does it less than others (so their batteries last longer than others), they still DO do it.

Is there a reputable source for original batteries? The stores I have been to don't even know what I'm talking about and Amazon is flooded with fakes.

I got an original on eBAY; it's got the correct date code format and tested as full capacity.
