Hi Team.

My Tab S2 is on 7.0 as this to my knowledge is the last one Samsung will be giving us as auto update.

I've had a look at some YouTube vids and see that I can put android pie into my Tab S2. Has anyone else tried it?

Next:
Is there a way to fully back up my tablet in case I want to revert my old setup?
Also, once I install Pie, is there a simple way to reinstall all the apps I was using previously (other than manually reinstalling the hundred odd I have installed)?

Thanks for your replies and knowledge.

You can go to this site and get a custom rom: https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s2

You can go on youtube to see how to do it.

I played around with this a few years ago with my previous tablet. IIRC, you use TWRP to backup your existing rom and you root and flash the custom rom. It was fun to play with an updated custom OS, but i always found they were kind.of buggy and sometimes crashed. In the end you have to trust and rely upon some stranger on the internet to make these roms which may or may not work, brick your device or breach security to your private info.

Yep, XDA is your best bet. I used to do custom ROMs from XDA with other Android tablets and they worked well. Just read and follow the directions. Very carefully. I haven't done it with my 8" Galaxy Tab S2, just keeping it stock.
