I'm no longer using any A.I. features that came with my s24U. I guess the novelty wore off.
Fortunately for us, Google will probably get bored with AI, stop using it and go on to the next big thing before they start charging for it.Just curious what (if) anyone else is thinking. I hope this feature is like the SOS calling on Apple phones where they promised the first year or two free, partly because Apple didn’t know what the cost was going to be, but would not charge for because it would look bad.
I know if I have to ‘pay’ to use a very expensive piece of hardware, I will be grateful I kept my S23 Ultra.
if it's a particularly long article, I'll use the AI to summarize to see if I want to plow through itI'm no longer using any A.I. features that came with my s24U. I guess the novelty wore off.
Just so you know that is a pretty low bar. Google's implementation has been abysmal. It screwed up with Bard and now Gemini isn't much better. Google has kicked itself in the junk twice in a row now.Not bad, but not as good as Google.
No, because if they really do go through with this stupid plan then this is the last Samsung phone that I would buy, and I am sure that I am not alone...
I see a lot of people saying they won't pay for it but I wonder how many of you are using it "just for now" anyway? See that's how they get you. This long trial period of free, unlimited use "just for testing" not at all to get you hooked.
I don't use any of the AI features. This was my plan form the beginning as soon as I heard that their plan was to charge for them down the line. I think I've used the circle to search twice maybe three times. I haven't tried any of the camera stuff. What's crazy to me is seeing "AI searches" in so many apps. I don't need AI to evaluate my searches or help me find anything. That brings to mind the story I saw where Microsoft wants to screen capture all your activity and then make it searchable, "for your convince", of course. Even if it's just to sell you more stuff, I don't need big brother in my life like that. Recently I turned off circle to search because I kept triggering with the slightest of touches, "by accident" I'm sure. Change my mind.
To those using it "just for now" good luck. We'll check back in with you in a few months.
It's a slippery slope, remember when Facebook wanted to start charging a subscription, and now Twitter does. And does while they still feed you ads.
Rumors tend to have some truth to them. You all do realize this all RUMOR...right?
Very little facts and too many "truths." Until Samsung actually says it in an official release, it is nothing more than a RUMOR.Rumors tend to have some truth to them.
Anyway, seeing your rumor theory I went looking for something official. At the worthless Samsung Community boards I found this thread asking the question. I hate that the Samsung Admins there give the most generic scripted answers and do no research about the topics they speak on. So just because one of them says that Samsung has no plans "at this time" to charge for these features means nothing to me. The Admins are among the must unenlightened people on the site. Sorry they just really get under my skin after spending so much time here with good people going there is like nails on a chalkboard for me. In the meantime, if you scroll just a page or two into the thread you can begin seeing where it sounds like it may just be certain features mainly centered around the camera things that may be a paid service in the future.
Regardless, I'm not missing anything at this moment in my life by not using AI. Circle to search is a gimmick on Google Lens, which I'm searching from my camera more often than not anyway, the AI camera stuff is just for people who have no editing skills, same with the writing stuff. If you can't make something sound casual or formal it probably isn't.
Maybe I will feel differently in 18 months but I stand by what I said, I will not be using, or becoming dependent, on things I can do and that may cost in the future. Besides this, do you really want to share all of these things with strangers, AI, Google, Samsung... I mean we have so little privacy using these devices anyway this would take away the last little bit if you send everything to the cloud somewhere to be processed and returned. Sounds silly today but when they know everything about you, start sending you tailored content, and influencing your thoughts and opinions, which they kind of are already, it may not seem so trivial then.
You say this like I was trying to be confrontational with you. I went looking for official and I agreed it's rumor, there's nothing directly from Samsung confirming this. In the thread there's more speculation, based on what other companies are doing, that they may one day charge for parts of it. But you're absolutely correct it appears to be rumor at this point.Very little facts and too many "truths." Until Samsung actually says it in an official release, it is nothing more than a RUMOR.
It's a fact that it's a rumor.I'm stating FACTS. Rumors are not facts. Like I said, until Samsung officially announces it, it is a rumor. Nothing more.
Well, some of us are in agreement that it is a fact that it is a rumor. There are a lot of people here that don't know the difference. It's a fact that it's a rumor.
I think we all are in agreement with that.
