Is Apple just better than Samsung at releasing devices?

Re: Why is it that when Samsung 1st came out with the note line everyone was that is too big no one

Screen size and camera quality/usability have always been my top two priorities. I have been a Note user since the first iteration. I will test the Note 4, but my experience with the first three Notes (compared to my iPads) has been much more sluggish with the need to kill apps and/or reboot relatively often. I would hope the Note 4 would improve on this, but at this point I just don't trust Android plus the added bulk of Samsung software to give me as smooth an experience as I suspect I would get on the iPhone 6+. The per-pixel sensor area on the iPhone 6 cam is also much larger than on the Note, and all other factors being relatively equal this should give me better low light shooting. At the medium resolutions (3k horizontal) that my images usually end up at- images from the iPhone should be equally sharp. The other key feature for me is finally being able to have a pin lock screen (my company requires it) with the ability to launch the camera from lock state instantly without having to enter the pin.

I love my current google app integration on android- gmail, docs, talk, maps, voice-input. And I love swype. I would hate to have any of those features lost or degraded going to iOS. So I will seriously try out the Note 4 and honestly hope it will be enough of an improvement for me to skip the iPhone 6+. But at this point I am getting old, and just want the smoothest experience. We'll see...

Re: Why is it that when Samsung 1st came out with the note line everyone was that...

Perhaps. But my Android phone does so much MORE than the iPhone because it's an open system vs. a closed one. I can make it work the way I want it to work, instead conforming to the way Steve Jobs thought I should work. When the iPhone lets me see my upcoming appointments, alarms, weather, and the song that's playing just by glancing at the lock screen or home screen, without having to open and switch between multiple apps, let me know.

And we'll see how well that 1 GB of RAM and dual core CPU works now that Apple is finally implementing multi-tasking support for apps. Actually, the cpu will probably be fine because with only 1 GB of RAM there won't be much multi-tasking going on.

Ummm...you can view all that information on iOS8 now. From within any app or on the lockscreen.

Re: Why is it that?

Apple and Samsung are close to the last smartphone makers I would buy from but are the first the majority of average consumers will buy from.
That's the power of marketing summed up in one sentence.
