Is Chromecast compatible with an HDMI switch?

I just bought this exact one on Amazon and it doesn't fully function for me. It loads up and it usually connects to the wifi, but it will not stream videos through Netflix.

The Netflix app on my phone shows that the Chromecast is visible, but when I try to play a video it loads and loads and then finally gives me this error: "Time-out while contacting the target device (16001)." I've gotten it to successfully load a video twice out of about 20 or 25 different tries.

I've tried using HDMI 1, HDMI 2 and HDMI 3 all with the same results. I've tried only connecting one device to the splitter with the same results. I've tried disconnecting the remote adapter. I've rebooted the Chromecast, then restored the Chromecast, with the same results. I've rebooted my phone as well.

The moment I plug the Chromecast directly into my projector, it works flawlessly every time. No loading issues. No time-out errors. Everything works perfectly.

I can't imagine that the issue is related to my projector or to the physical phone. It's either an issue with the Netflix app, the Chromecast or the splitter. The other two things I have plugged into the splitter are the cable TV and a connection to my laptop. Both work great.

Pigtail doesn't work. I am trying CC on 2 monitors both of them connected to Matrox Dualhead2Go. Matrox works fine. The Chrcomecast works fine too but not via the pigtail switch. I tried attaching Matrox via DVI and Chromecast via HDMI, that works but switching the sources is pain on the displays and it alwasy defaults to Chromecast on HDMI if source is automatic. Well, that was expected. So I'm looking to switch using the HDMI. Ill try the Monoprice. If tht doesn't work ill throw out Monoprise,Chromecast with Matrox out to dustbin and buy AppleTv and hookup that second monitor to AppleTv and I will be covered also for Youtube. I only want Chromecast for YouTube but I have 2 displays attached to a 2010 MacBook so it doesn't do a good job with AirPlay for high resolution videos. Ah well. When is this experiment going to end. I'm tired of this switching and swapping. Hope Apple comes with the "ultimate" solution so I won't have threse headaches I'm having now.

Re: compatible with an HDMI switch?

FIX / SOLUTION is to power google chromecast with external 5V usb adapter, not to use usb from the TV since it doesnt have enough power! It took me whole day changing the hdmi cables thinking the problem is there, since my 5-to-1 hdmi switch worked fine with other devices like stb box, just the chromecast wasnt working at all.
