Is everyone not understanding the value in the Pixels pricing?

No, I don't get it. I like android because it pushes the boundaries. Experiments. Tries crazy things. Look at the galaxy round! lmao! Samsung projector phones from 3 years ago, the first Note, Kyocera Echo, LG 2 cameras, Motorola with the first finger print scanner and that crazy laptop dock... LG G Flex...dude, I don't want this boring crap. If I wanted a boring phone that worked well I'd just get an iPhone or Galaxy SX.

Translation: "I don't want to spend that much on any phone. If it had every single feature I wanted, I'd still want it to be $400."

Having said that, I personally can't justify spending this much on any phone. But I'm not going to complain about it, because that's the market value of this level of phones right now.

I can't speak for anyone else but this offended me because I bought a GS6 at launch for $649+ tax at best buy.

Why did I spend so much? cause till today this is the best phone I've ever used... and if it wasn't for the battery I would give it a 10/10.

I even think its better than the S7 because of the 16:9 camera and IR Blaster.

From what google showed on the 4th, I am not impressed... I spend over $600 on phones plenty of times. Why? because they fit my lifestyle and needs. Does Google's phones do it as well? yes maybe even better... but my phone still has the "wow" factor in the look department while I think googles phone looks...... 5/10 at best. the specs are 10/10 tho but than again how much faster to I need instagram to open...?

(And if you we're referring to me rating the look of the phone, I haven't seen a pic of a phone and the product looks different in person... so i'm gonna judge its looks from the pics and videos I've seen)

If you showed 100 people who never saw a Pixel XL or S7 Edge in person from front to back and asked which is "prettier" i'd bet at least 80 of them would say the samsung phone.

Why are people so jumpy on these forums? it's not even an iOS vs Android topic (which is still not a good reason) here we're giving OUR OPINIONS on if we think google's new phone is worth the money, some people are getting mad from what I see and it's ridiculous if you ask me.

Again... google's phone in the LOOKS department i'd give it a 5/10 at best. My HTC One M7 blows it away in the looks department

Some of us want to be able to discuss the phone, share in the excitement and find answers to questions without having to navigate through all the littering and negativity that exists in every thread...

I don't like the S6 but I don't go into that forum and spread negativity all over it and litter their threads.... I don't like it, I won't buy it so why on earth would I go to that forum area?????

I think the Pixel looks super duper and I am excited for it... I ordered without a 2nd thought and would do so again right now..

Agreed on all points. I had to snicker a little when the person who asked you "why are people so jumpy..." is the person who claimed to be offended by my last post (pretty jumpy...). However, I don't get to choose what should or shouldn't offend someone, so I apologize for any offense and assure everyone that none was intended in my comment and I had no one particular in mind.

Having said that, it does seem, as raqball points out, that a lot of people (anyone may exclude themselves if this doesn't apply to you), are jumping the gun quite a bit on claiming that this phone is overpriced; having not seen, felt, or played with it at all. Hence, my wondering if certain people wouldn't be satisfied with anything Google would have released, unless it was super-cheap. As I've said, I can't personally justify spending $650 on a phone, but if I could, I'd have been right behind raqball in the pre-order queue with my tail waggin'! Just my opinion.

You say that like this is a topic about "this phone is excellent" or "why I love my pixel" and people are bashing the phone when it's a topic about the value of the phone.

I clearly don't see the value of the phone so I expressed my opinion, I think I can jude the outside of the phone fairly confidently because I have never seen a "nice" looking phone on a picture but it was ugly in person or vice versa.

I hope you enjoy your new phone whenever you get it! but that doesn't mean I have to like it the same way you don't like the GS6. Am I supposed to get upset cause you don't like it? nope.

Sorry for all the negativity you've been seeing but thats the internet for you. I don't think I was out of line from what I said and I stand by it. To me it's not as visually appealing as a lot of 2016 and even 2015 smart phones.

Google could have literally unveiled a phone with an i7 processor and GTX 1080 graphics, 32 gigs of ram, 1tb flash storage in a form factor 6mm thick with 6inch screen, 4k display, waterproof and indestructible. Oh and new battery technology that gets you 48 hours of screen time. All for $599! The very next post would be, PASS! No SD card slot or why isn't this $299! Or the best one of all, look at those Bezels!

I truly do believe that, in a lot of people's eyes, Google was in a no-win situation with this phone without under-pricing it, IMO.

I don't know about them, but water resistance has been great for me. I don't go swimming in my pool with it but I live in a place that rains a lot and it's nice to not have to worry about it while I'm out in about. Or know that If it does drop in water, I'm ok. I imagine they will have it next year. Now that the iPhone does everyone will be following suit that doesn't already provide it.

You have a valid reason for wanting better waterproofing.. That's rational and acceptable.. When someone says no ip68 and does not give a reason then it comes across as a simple spec rant...

Waterproofing is meaningless to me. I live in So. California and it never rains... I also don't plan on scuba diving with it so theres that as well..
