Is GN with unlimited data a good substitute for cable/DSL ???

I've been using the LTE at home instead of DSL for about 6 months now. I pay the $30. I paid for tethering 3G on my Fascinate and I didn't want to upset the apple cart when I switched to the GN. I average about 40 gigs a month. 50 was my record.

I use 40-50 GB per month on average. Verizon's never told me a thing. I download anything I want. Sorry if you guys hate me but WiFi in my room is so slow. I'm enjoying my unlimited plan while it lasts.

but for online gaming latency my be an issue.

Why? The best, closest server I ping is in Dallas, which is over 500 miles from me. Sad that the best ping I can get is from a server so far away. On my home internet on my computer, my ping is about 35-40ms with that server. On LTE, it's about twice that. We're talking about a difference of less than 1/20 of a second. Unless I'm missing something, how is that not good enough for gaming? I'm not being a smartass or anything. I've never used my phone's internet for gaming so I really don't know. Just curious.

can't be as bad as the terrible latency that I had when I was using satellite two-way internet.
(HughesNet) but that was only because I lived in a rural area that had no cable, landline,
cell service.... :(
