Is it easy to transfer photos and video from a Samsung phone to a Mac for editing?

I'm looking into getting a Samsung Galaxy S7 phone as the camera and video capability looks fantastic (and is the main thing the phone will be used for). However, I'll be using a Mac video editing programme (tbc which one exactly!) to turn my footage into short films. Is it easy peasy to transfer these files, or am I best sticking to an Apple phone to prevent any compatibility issues?
Many thanks

Just install Samsung software called SideSync for Mac and you're good to go. Once you plug it in, the phone's display will turn off and it will appear as a window on your Mac screen allowing you to navigate the phone with a mouse. You can then drag the video file from the phone screen to your Mac desktop to copy/cut and paste. Keyboard shortcuts work. You can also connect wirelessly if they are on the same WiFi connection.
