Is it me or Verizon losing data?

I am getting a replacement phone (my screen broke). I am thinking of rooting it and then putting the original OTA from September on it.

I thought bevause my phone was broken that I was having issues, but, reading this thread I am glad I am not the only one.

This is what pisses me off with Verizon....they want to charge us more for Data, but the data is on and off.......there should be an app that monitors that and then reports it to you and then you could send it to Verizon with a note "You owe me ?????? dollars"

I spoke with a guy from tier 2 support today and he is convinced that there's either a problem with my SIM card or the phones radio. He did a search of my area and didn't see an unusually high number of people calling to report similar problems.

He was telling me how they've had a lot of problems with SIM cards going bad after a while and is of the opinion that they have around a 6 month life span.

To help speed up the troubleshooting, he's having a new SIM and a replacement phone sent by Fed Ex so I can try both solutions. Hopefully one of them works.

I had this problem right about 2 months after I had gotten my original DInc, but once I rooted and installed a newer radio, I've never had a problem again. Of course the problem wasn't 4G, but the 3G would just completely disappear. So maybe flash an old radio version or check for an different one on XDA and it should clear itself up.

Well my phone wasn't causing the problem. Fired up the replacement with my current SIM card and was having the same problems.

The SIM was shipped separately so I'm still waiting for it to show up.

I've read in other threads that a new SIM didn't solve the problem long term. What software version is the replacement phone runnng (Menu, Settings, About Phone, Software information, Software number)? The latest is 2.11.605.19 710RD. There's some speculation that the latest software is causing the radios to get wonky. I'm not quite convinced yet as the problem is happening across different phones. Although, I'm really getting tired of the data drops and am on the verge of trying to flash a full RUU of the previous version (2.11.605.9) just to see if that makes any difference. Might have to root to do it though (to go back a software revision). :-\

Got a new SIM from a VZW corporate store late yesterday. Stable and steady last night, and back to flaky LTE this morning. I want to call CS so this gets into their system, but I'm afraid they'll just try to replace the phone, and based on what I'm reading here, that still won't solve the problem.

Well the SIM card isn't the problem either. Within minutes of getting the new one activated, I was seeing the same problems.

Happening here, Atlanta area, for the last couple of weeks.

Just another data point in relation to these data drops; it can't be the software as I'm still occasional experiencing them after flashing back to 2.11.605.9 (from Dec. 2011). When I originally ran that version from Dec. to the end of April, I never had these data drop issues. I didn?t have the issue either when running the latest software (2.11.605.19) since the end of April, then it all started about the first week of June. In either case, the issue is very intermittent for me as I can go a day sometimes two with no problem, then all of sudden start having data drops for an hour or two, then back to no problem. Grrr gets aggravating at times, just wish they?d figure it out and fix it. But I know from working in the IT field that intermittent problems can be very difficult to pinpoint and fix. :(

Similar experience here, I noticed it the first week of June, after trip to Orlando. Lately it has been better, but I had a drop out this morning at home.

I know it would use up battery life, but is there an app that will track our connections and drop outs and log the info to a text file we could send to VZW? I happen to have an e-mail address for one of their engineers.

4g has been in Cave Creek for about 3 weeks now. Its OK. Not as strong a signal as 3g in my home area but it is working. At two bars.

I agree with your assessment about the data problem. It's not the software. I am rooted and am still running .9 (so glad after reading about the problems with .19) I having similar problems with data over the past couple weeks. The most noticeable problem is not with 4g, rather it's not finding a 3g signal at all. Also, I was browsing the web yesterday (stock browser) and the signal went into 1X. Really? I mean, really?!

I got my replacement Tbolt and it came with a new SIM card. I put the new one in and it wouldn't activate. So, I put my old one in and it worked perfectly fine. Then my daughters replacement phone (came the same day as mine) wasn't working so she got a new one sent the next day. She put her old SIM card in and the phone wasn't working right. So, instead of listening to a whinning and crying 20 year old, I said "get in the car, we are going to Verizon". Well, the rep was really cool and took care of the problem....even gave her a free REZOUND battery. Well, with the new SIM card in, her 4g has been 99% with only a few drop outs.

Well, with my mine being a little flaky, I decided to take my phone in and get the new SIM card in. The rep (different one)..........couldn't get it working right away....so, she decided to run the software update which of course took it to the latest.....seemed to work perfect from then on.

What did I do then?....went home and rooted it and installed a new ROM (went back to ETERNITY for the momment) and the 4g seems to be holding steady.

My daughter is getting closer to letting me root her phone.......the whinning and tears will still be there...but, I think that is a girl thing.........single father raising a girl......no wonder I have sleepless nights......well, at least the phones are working!

I haven't had a 4G, 3G, 1x or any signal for 2 days at this point (In the Baltimore area). Might be time to take a trip to VZW and see if something is going on.

When asking about latest software, are you talking about stock Verizon or are you referring to flashing new stuff?

My Rezound is dropping data connection all the time when at around 70-75db. Mine is finally unlocked, s-off and rooted, but otherwise stock and my software is version 2.01.605.11.

Drove from Atlanta to Charleston, SC today. Have had no drop-outs today, either in Atlanta, Augusta, or Charleston. Not so far anyway.

Atlanta/Roswell Ga area has been pretty bad today. Lots of 0 - 5 bars back and forth.
