Is it possible to disable double-tap to zoom on default browser?

I visit a chess website which uses a double tap on apiece to generate a pop-up menu. On the Desire I am unable to access the double tap since it keeps zooming in or out. If I try to tap slower to avoid the zoom it is not fast enough to generate the pop-up menu.

Is there any way to temporarily disable double tap to zoom, or disable it on particular websites?
