So the screen died on my dad's phone somehow. The phone can still be powered on and charged, but the screen is completely dead. He has some pictures and files he'd like to get off of it so I have the phone and am trying to help. My initial plan was to plug a monitor into the phone and use that for my display to help navigate. When I do that, the monitor screen is just black with a floating lock icon. Initially, I thought the display was simply not showing, but thought/hoped the touch would still work. Even though I see the lock icon on the screen, no amount of tapping or swiping on the screen will bring up a way to unlock it. I've tried using a USB C docking station with a mouse and keyboard thinking maybe if the screen was dead, if it those devices attached, I might be able to unlock it with no luck. Can anyone recommend an option to get into the phone or is it completely toast with no access to the files?
