Is it safe to use the "wipe dalvik cache" & "wipe cache partition" option?

I'm getting a "unfortunately, touchwiz home has stopped" message when ever I use the home button.
I read through all the solutions like turning off motion features & setting it to easy mode, but none of them worked.

I don't want to do a factory reset as I went through a lot to customize my phone & don't want to re-download all the stuff again.
What will these options in Recovery Mode, "wipe dalvik cache" & "wipe cache partition" do?
Will they just clear up any left over junk & maybe fix the problems I'm having?

Are they safe & recommended to use or will they mess up my phone even more?

My phone is rooted & on Lolipop 5.0.

I have done it several times on my phone without issue. Have you tried clearing the data from the Touch Wiz Home app first/

Hold down on a blank spot on the screen, tap home screen setting, unchecked my magazine.

I only clear dalvik to flash a new rom. No need to otherwise
