Is It too late to get a Nexus 6P?

I hope to keep my Nexus 6p for at least 2 years if not 3. Great device! I might get a little jealous of those who have newer, but newer isn't always better in my book. Or at least not better for my budget.... 😁

A long as it looks new and works as great as it does now, I'm good! It has already survived a drop in my slim Supcase cover, that has only given me more confidence in the phone!

For what it's worth, I got my 6p less than a week ago and am very happy. I wouldn't mind if it were a tiny bit shorter, but it's such a great device that I'm fine with it. The screen is excellent, the camera is so very good, and I'm as excited going to it from Samsung as I was about going from iOS to Android in the first place.

I can't imagine that any speed upgrade would even be perceptible at this point. Feature-wise the 6P has everything I can think of except for 3D touch which I honestly don't think I would ever miss at this point.

IMHO this is my very first Android flagship. I just recently bought this phone ( Graphite, 64GB ) a month ago. Very smooth, does not overheat (it does get warm, not hot no doubt due to its Aluminum finish ) and highly customizable being a Nexus. I think that this can last longer rather than attempting to buy another Nexus this year.

This is me coming from Blackberry but I'm not a stranger to Android as I've been experimenting on several non-BB phones with a BB phone (iOS was the least of my preference ) as my daily driver (which I've tried all BB10 phones too!). This is the first time that Android is now my daily driver :D.

remember, the 6p will be the first to have Android N, and it'll be updated in 2017 too ... I don't care how great the HTC Nexus is, the 6p is perfect for me and at $499 it's still the best phone on the market.

phones from year to year are such slight improvements, that unless there's something specific you're going for, there's no need to wait.

front speakers, best FPS out there, great display, battery life, look & feel, camera ... the ONLY thing I don't like about it is the volume button placement cause they're too low.

And Google NEVER announces they're Nexus at I/O, and even if they did, or still wouldn't be released until October at the earliest.

Nothing wrong with waiting either. The 6p will go on sale (nothing as significant a decrease in price as the 6 though) so you can decide between that and the new one(s).

Bottom line, if you still need convincing, might as well wait, but the 6p is gonna be tough to top, so don't get your expectations too high thinking your wait will result in a dramatic improvement.

The 6p is an amazing phone. If it wasn't so damn big I would still be using one. To me, it was so good that I could see holding on to it until the 2017 Nexus phones.

I got my 6p (for the second time) this month. Love it. If you want Android as it should be this is the best way.

3d touch, which I admit I thought was an apple gimmick, is one thing I miss from my iphone and shutter fly share sites). It will be the only reason I upgrade my 6p...

The 6p is perfect as is but 3d touch would send it over the edge for me (assumption is that Google provides a proper implementation)

I was tired of running out of space on my 32 GB Nexus 5x, and my son needed a new phone, so I gave him that. I went back to my 64 GB Droid Turbo, and its been okay, but I run into Bluetooth issues all the time, and its just not the same as the Nexus. Its close, but no cigar.

Needless to say I just pulled the trigger on a 64 GB Nexus 6p. I'm sure this phone will last me through this next round of Nexi, until the ones after that come out. I'm not really a "power" user and love the clean interface Google has on their devices.

My device should be here tomorrow!

So in short, if you need/want a new phone I don't think its too late to get the Nexus 6p. But if you wait a few months, I'm sure google will start to drop the price to make room for the new hardware coming down the pipe.

Just picked one up as a sweet back up to my s7 edge. Currently put the edge down to enjoy preview 3 a daily driver. Under no circumstances is it too late for the 6p. Great phone and a flagship still in my eyes.

Well... the one thing that leads me to think that the 6P has the best chance of holding up over time is that while a new phone might have some new features that will allow it to stand out and differentiate itself, there isn't a lot of stuff in the 6P that is sub-par. It gets good (for me at least) battery performance, the screens good, the sounds good, the camera has been great... great FPS, great radios (strong signals with low power use, etc). It doesn't really have any real weakness in my usage that I would think "Man, I wish this would do a better job".

I had a Nexus 6... and I really enjoyed it, but when the 6P came out, at first, I didn't think it would tempt me. Then I saw how much better the camera was, how useful a FPS is, etc. So while it remains to be seen what goodies will come in the next Nexus replacement, it's a pretty high bar to pass to get me to want to get rid of this one.

I bought my 6P on January. Very nice phone with zero weak spots. I would wait until they offer another price break, which they do from time to time.

I purchased an HTC 10 to replace the 6P and just sent the 10 back. Sure it is smaller and some features were seemingly better at first, but the display wasn't as good and the software, though close to stock, just wasn't as fluid as the 6P. The 6P is an outstanding all around phone, that may be just a little bigger than I would like, but I just can't find a better replacement.

Get it.... If you're always trying to keep up with the latest and greatest, you won't be able to, unless you buy a new phone almost every year. I tend to keep phones about 2 years or so. My last phone I kept almost three years (LG Optimus G Pro) and it was still working okay, just a little slower and I actually have it as a backup. I see myself keeping the 6P for at least 2 years. This is my $0.02

Excellent advice. You can chase whatever's over the horizon forever and never catch it.

When I was getting the free upgrades through Verizon, I was a new phone every 10 months or so.
I actually made money upgrading that often.
Now, that I pay for them it's less frequent and the phone gets recycled and handed down to someone else.

there were stupid rumours saying google would announce a new spec bumped 6p in the google I/O event so thats why OP & me were wondering if it was worth the wait to see if the rumours are true, doesn't look like this happening & the new phones will come in fall.

I miss my 6p ever day, even owning an S7 edge, HTC 10 and now the LG G5, there's something about these nexus phones that just makes me miss it. I was currently looking at the 5X. I gave the 6P to my mother in law so its still in the family, dont consider it a goner. It was on the larger side so a bit hard to carry in the pocket but if you're in between, GET IT.. its amazing. IMO the phone is better than the new HTC 10, up there with the S7 edge with the obvious things aside, like the 7 being a 2016 flagship and having the best camera out there, but that's just my honest opinion. If had the money id get one in every color lol.

Not at all, I bought mine a few weeks ago on a site called swappa and this phone is great, plus the quick updates, I'm not sure if I'd use a carrier phone as my daily driver ever again.
