Is it worth it to dump my Note 20 Ultra for the S21 Ultra?

True. It's amazing a lot of people still use the iPhone 6 and 6s. I have a cell accessories shop at a fleamarket and get a lot of customers with them. Well, not so much the 6 but lots of iPhone 7 and 7 Plus still. BUT lately the Iphone 12 and 12 Pro Max getting tons of people wanting cases. But last year the iPhone 11 wasn't very popular. Odd.

I'm also seeing a lot of S21 line as well. Kinda surprised by this too. I suspect MAYBE it's the stimulus money families are getting they're upgrading to top of the line flag ships like the S21.

It sucks in a way because the vendors I order from have a crap selection of S21 line of cases.
I use an iPhone 7 for my Apple Watch Series 6. It is running the iOS 14.5 beta. Some features don't come to older phones with upgrades. And apps stop working on older system versions more quickly than they do on android.

This is a tough one but I'm in the exact situation. I have a note 20 ultra 128 gig with a 256 SD card in it and I picked up the 256 s21 ultra. My lock in date to where I cannot return back the s21 is April 17. Personally I do think it's worth it to make the switch. I do not like the feel of the note 20 ultra in my hand. I find that the boxy shape is too big and at times could be sharp. I like the battery life camera and overall feeling In the hand of the 21 ultra way better. I know this is all personal preference but the way a phone feels in a hand can be a huge deciding factor for someone even though other people could tell you oh it's the same phone. My plan would be just to pay off the note 20 ultra in a few months and just sell it and then just only have the s21 ultra. The other thing is how hard it is to get an s21 right now. For Sprint, most of the models are on back order which maybe tells you that it's a popular phone and people are all going after it. I also like the fact that you could use the quad HD with 120 hertz refresh on the s21.

If you're willing to mess around with ADB every time you start or restart your phone, you can also get WQHD at 120 Hz on the Note 20 Ultra

I've done this on my phone and can confirm it works, although it does impact battery life.

Are you trying to order from Samsung.com? They're out of stock on a lot of the S21. Unlocked especially. They always seem to be out of stock when it comes to phones in general.

Why not go with unlocked? Best Buy has the US unlocked in stock as well as B & H photo, and Amazon has the S21 Ultra in stock Prime shipping and get it the next day.

I don't think it's so much it's popular but the Semi conductor shortage and supply chain issues. If you go unlocked route there are other ways to get the phone other than samsung.com which always seems to be out of stock when it comes to new phones.

B & H has it on sale for $1000! Also, with them I don't think there is tax unless it changed.

Except if the Fold takes the place of the Note and has a silo for the Spen I doubt the S series will have a silo for an Spen too. Probably will be an add on.

I'm thinking the S21 Ultra with Spen was to hold people over until next year. I think by then many Note users will just buy the Fold. Which that increases profits having a more expensive device and the suckers like us on this forum will keep shelling out our cash LOL.

They would be smart to have a silo in the Fold this year, but if not then next year.

Likely no S-pen silo in the fold 3

Interesting thread. My carrier has trade-in value of phone PLUS additional 400. So I could swing into a S21 Ultra 256GB for not a lot more on my plan. Don't care about MST and expandable storage....still debating if it's necessary for me or not. I don't use the built-in stylus much as I have a Wacom One I bought for work and that's about the only time I use a stylus on it. Way better for writing than the little spen.

Buying my younger son a S21 as he requires a phone sooner or later. His older siblings had devices by now and I can get him a 256GB model.

Seeing as I originally got my N20U for 600 it was a no-brainer for me to take the $700 trade-in from Samsung plus an extra $100 off through Verizon. I chose the phantom black 256gb and I am supposed to have it buy April 29th. I did also notice that the 512gb phantom black through Verizon showed up as an option again with delivery estimated in May.

It depends on perspective. From a purely financial perspective the better deal is to keep the Note 20U at 600 dollars. If you like new toys and don't care about the integrated Spen the trade in deal based on your initial outlay certainly isn't a bad thing either.

I bought it. Camera is improved and the phone seems snappier!. Also couldn't beat $700 trade in. The other reason is because with no Note this year I don't want to be stuck with a old device.

I say around June more on here will be buying the S21 Ultra. I can't see people holding onto their Note for 2 years until Note 21 comes out.

Now it's slightly possible this Aug IF the Fold 3 has an embedded Spen I could give it a look BUT if it's like $1800 forget about it.

I'm thinking the Fold is replacing the Note. It will be the phone with the Spen built in. basically it will be the Note, except it will be a folding screen. They will market it as a phone but a small tablet with full spen.

You will have the S line in Feb and the Fold in Aug. That is my thinking. I wouldn't be shocked if they don't have a Note 21 and the Fold takes its place next year. i think the Note 20 Ultra is the last note. The Fold will basically be the new Note. So when DJ says they wont let us Note fans down it will be a Fold phone with built in Spen. Who knows maybe they will eventually rename the Fold to the Notebook or Note Pad. Would be like using a small note pad with the larger screen and Spen. Might not be a bad thing. A tablet small enough to carry to take notes on and use as your phone. Would be great for college and office not having to carry a tablet around.

I hold on to every flagship I buy for no less than 2 years. Makes no since to keep spending money if the flagship you bought is still working. All of my flagships worked flawlessly even when they were 2 years old. I wouldn't go from a Note 20 Ultra to the S21U. Hell no. I actually use my pen. Great for doing business. I've bought the S devices for years. This was my first Note. There is a difference for me. This phone is definitely more business oriented.

I really like the boxier form of the note. It's better for media and using the spen. Also the s21u feels like a brick.

The camera performance is so identical. Both phone share the same sensor but the s21u has a slightly improved version which I haven't actually seen any real world results to show these improvement.

The zoom is gimmicky as anything less than bright conditions and the picture quality degrades.

The battery life is good for me on the note. I turned off 5g as I saw no speed increase. I also run at qhd with 60z. I don't like the feel at 120hz.

I sold the s21u and went back to the note. Just felt better holding and the improvement to the display and the integraded 5g modem on the 888 I would never take advantage of.

Dumb! I almost wonder then if just maybe Samsung doesn't really intend making a phone with a built in silo anymore. Instead the S pen will simply be an add on you must buy. Cuts down on design and production cost BUT also increases profit buying an expensive S pen separately.
We can't say Samsung hasn't learned anything from apple over the years, how to get the most money out of the people. They see apple getting away with no SD card slot and charge more for internal memory, they see apple get away with selling a pen device separate, they see apple get away with getting rid of the 3.5 aux jack and offer Bluetooth earbuds and charge a fortune for them and get away with it, so they jumped on the bandwagon. Samsung so far usually has better promotions, but who knows how long that will last.
