Is iTunes a reason not to get the HTC One?

To be honest, iTunes doesn't slow my pc down in the least. Maybe it's because I build my own.

I've heard that on PC's it slows things down much more than on Macs. I guess if you're building beastly machines it doesn't matter as much.

You've heard? Anyway, iTunes isn't a problem for me as far as resource utilization and speed. I guess mileage varies.

I never used it on a PC. Back when I had a PC was when the best mp3 players were the kind that you plugged into a USB port and dragged and dropped files onto.

Went to mac and now mostly chrome os.

Just need to choose what colour HTC one I want now!

This is the easiest way to go. It'll cost $8, total, but the time and headaches you will save, ...

Right, Google Music doesn't actually upload your versions of a song if they have a copy in their files. If they have it, they use their copy and they copy from the iTunes folder in your music library, not by accessing iTunes itself.

iTunes for me was nothing more than a repository. I synched my tunes via synch manager which is not great but does the job. I also use Spotify which takes care of most of my music needs.

+1 on iSyncr. I got sucked into using iTunes when I got an iPod back in 2006 or so. (Still the only Apple product I've ever owned.) I've tried using Windows Media Player, but iTunes is still better, which is not saying much. I've had zero issues using iSyncr to keep in sync.

It's probably also worth noting that Google Music is a more than viable option if you have an unlimited data plan or always have access to wifi. The Google Music Manager uploads everything you have in iTunes and seamless keeps itself in sync when you tweak a playlist in iTunes or what have you.

I have a program called free m4a to mp3 converter on my computer I use to make itunes files mp3s if I really want them on my phone (or to send them to other people... cough cough...). I think it works with even drm-ified itunes tracks, I've never received any error messages, may be worth a shot if that's the issue. It'll take a while to convert tons, and then you have everything saved twice, but if you just move it to your phone and then delete them off your computer, it could work? But it sounds like your issue is organization, not the file types. Have you tried doubletwist? I'm afraid I don't know much about airsync, but that could be an option for you? And google music has a syncing/cloud system, or did a couple years back when I gave it whirl.

It's because they read an article 10 years ago about someone putting iTunes on an underpowered Windows machine or a $250 Walmart laptop. I actually called someone out once early this year / late last year and they posted a link to a blogger that gave his opinion on iTunes 4 , and they had never personally used it.

iSyncr for the win. I still like iTunes as a good way to make playlists and organize my music. I know Google is pushing their cloud service for music which is great, don't get me wrong but I really wish they would make an easier way to do what iTunes does but without having to get into internet all the time. Some sort of desktop manager.

iTunes is the devil. I hate it. Only a fool and his money would keep all their music on only iTunes. I keep several copies on different external hard drives of all my music. Nearly 800 gigs of it now.. From there you COPY whatever music you want and insert it into iTunes that way... It is a TREMENDOUS mistake to allow iTunes to manage all your music.. I've had it decide that it wouldn't play it because it was unlicensed..what the heck ever.. It came off a silver cd I had purchased years before.. Plus, who the hel* are those arseholes to police MY music?!?
I'll do whatever I want with my music and I refuse to let apple's idiotic ego try and tell me what to do with my music... Get smart and keep your music separate from those pigs...

On a side note, I'm so glad to see that company losing ground, anyway.. They're just like everyone else now that Jobs is dead.

I'm also using isyncr - we've got 4 ipods/iphones in our household and are just too tied to itunes to consider anything else right now. I download new music on a daily basis and have a pretty involved playlist setup to synch new stuff to my phone and isyncr/rocket tunes was the only setup which would let me automatically synch new stuff easily, rate it on my phone and then synch the ratings back to itunes. It was worth paying a couple bucks for the functionality.

So I need a way to get a carbon copy of my itunes onto android, including the custom start/end times, ratings etc. Most importantly, it must not sync the tracks I have unselected in itunes.

I use iTunes with my HTC One via iSyncr.

It depends on the person I guess... I'll say this I got the ipod touch when it came out and like it but I dislike having to log onto iTunes everytime I wanna do stuff and the best part about iTunes to me is the games of which they have android beat... On the same token I think Google Play has more use for productivity and tools apps...

I have just given my iphone 5 to wife and I have commited to droid after 6 years of ios.. Itunes is a major part of my content managment.

Over the last couple of days I have bought isyncr and doubletwist with air sync.. used the desktop equivalents on OSX to try and manage my itunes goodies.. None were ideal.. double twiest really mashes any kind of order.. tv shows, albums, movies, just all over the shop and no general organisation.

The killer app.. bar none is Airdriod its free, totally opens the file system in a lovely GUI (via web browser on same network) its wireless, or wired for larger file transfers. I just opened itunes, found the content I wanted and sent it to the relevant folder via airdroid. I sent a couple of seasons of Peep show, which are 6 episodes per season, and the phone does not group them into seasons... I just have a long list of TV shows, so I had to physically rename the files because the tags were ignored.

So far, double twist player is the best music / Movie app i have found, it sorts and see's your playlists and artwork which itunes has dealt with. I am a complete android newbie so I am still learning how to use this thing.. I am determined to not go back to ios.

Figured it may remove the DRM on older tracks and I had issues with .m4as not playing on my last phone and in my car via USB drive. But it was only an EP and an album that weren't on amazon music or bandcamp.
