Is my battery going on the fritz

So I just went on my lunch break and took my fully charged evo with me. While at lunch I notice my battery was at 50%. I look to see what was running and I didnt have anything out of the ordinary

Android system
Standby

When I get back to work the battery is red and less than 3%.

Could my battery be dying for good? There is no reason this should go from 100% to 3% in less than 1 hour. I didnt text, talk on the phone or browse the internet. I just had it in my pocket

Actually when you say there is No Reason there could be several.
App running in the backround could be frozen. Device could have some other app error. It falsely read a full charge when it was not. Or you could be having reception issues.

Either way when my device does something like that, or if i notice a sudden quick drop in battery i always shut it off and reboot it.

Thats a huge drain, it sounds more like a actual battery problem. Try running spare parts and see if anything is keeping the device from sleeping. Also check your latest app installes and updates too.
