Is my phone genuine?

I recently got a new phone from an online retailer and don't really want to go to the trouble of Samsung Tech support to find out if my phone (samsung galaxy S4 GT I9500) is a fake. It came with Android 4.4.2 installed and from what I can tell, it looks real. I connected it to Samsung Kies and the phone was recognised, does that mean it's definitely real or could a fake also connect to kies?

Go to Swappa.com and do a free search on the imei or esn number. I don't think a counterfeit phone would have a valid number.
