Is my S9+ camera defective?

I cleaned it (albeit not with alcohol - too late for that now as I already returned it), but the results were the same.

Challenge - Can anyone with a S9 post a pic of a pet as sharp as the one above (where you can see every small hair razor sharp)? In low light even better.

I already know I can't get as good a picture of my dog with my S9 as I did my S7 :( When I first started questioning the fact that the S7 was taking better pictures, I got lambasted but it looks like it's a real problem after all :(

Only reason I moved off my S9+. I like it better in all regards to my Pixel but the camera and FPS errors more than unlocks and requires multiple attempts.

Yep, I'm back on my Pixel 2 XL for now. Anxiously awaiting the HTC 12.

Took this yesterday. It's slightly blurred because my knucklehead dog won't sit still, so I had to wait until she looked at me and snap really quick, hence the reason why it's off center. Still think it turned out ok. View attachment 283157
Have you tried sports mode? It works better in low light than previous Samsung phones because of the faster lens.

I have, at my granddaughters soccer games. My dog just looked so darned cute that I hit the home button twice and clicked as soon as the camera opened, which is set to Auto. I wonder if there's a way to change that?

We have the Pixel 2 XL and Galaxy S9+. This picture was taken in total darkness last night. The Dingo hurt himself climbing over the fence (again) so I gave him some aspirin and lifted his 60lb self up on the bed :) Critique (cause I know you will LOL) and tell me which camera took the picture. Picture was resized by 1/2 and saved as a high quality jpg.

Don't ever give a dog aspirin!!! Check with your vet if you don't believe me.

Thanks for your concern. I would never do anything to harm my dog (or any dog. Cats?...eh...(g)...jk!) I've asked more than one vet over the years if it was ok to give dogs aspirin. I've had vets suggest aspirin. You'll find more websites mention that it's ok (under your vet's care) than not. It's certainly nothing I'd do on a regular basis (3rd time). I make sure the dosage is right for his weight and the aspirin is buffered. I actually go on the low side of what is acceptable. I give it with food. After one day and two doses, he's much improved and still has an appetite and is drinking. As head of ranch security, he's currently doing a perimeter check and keeping armadillos out of the yard ;) As a gunshot and heart worm survivor, he's one tuff Dingo (unless he lands wrong when climbing the six foot fence (sigh)

Sooooo, which camera do you think took the picture?

Well, I'm going to say S9! Wished you took a picture with each though. Then we could critique both!

You're right. Considering that it was taken in total darkness, I'm happy with it. I'll see what I can do about retaking the picture with both cams.

I noticed that the camera on my S9+ doesn't take as good pictures as my S7 Edge and S8 did. The pictures come out a little fuzzy. At first I thought maybe I had a defective phone. But apparently I'm not alone with this issue. Has anyone get better results with a third party camera app?

My replacement S9+ takes significantly better photos than my original. I had more blurred photos than useable. I can't speak as to if the improvement is hardware or software but it's improved and I enjoy it now.
