Feels like the Korean beta was such a long time ago and still no word on a wider v30 release?

Looks like Samsung are going to be first out as the S8 rollout has now started.

If you look at the history of releases, they always wait 6 months to 1 year AFTER the next gen flagship releases their phone first with the newest OS. This is how they keep things appearing new. Just be patient, your phone is working perfectly fine. Don't give in to the hype.

Then why did the Galaxy 8 phones get Oreo this week, even before the 9 is announced? Kind of puts a hole in your bucket.

Are you on a carrier model? If so you'll most likely be waiting awhile.

I’m unlocked, what worries me is no news which makes me think it is nowhere near release

It is about a year now, since I got Oreo on my (then) Nexus 6P. Going back to Nougat was a bit of a cringe. Waiting now for an OS Version I already had on a much older phone is a dread.

Still, the V30 is a good phone. I cling to the thought for dear life.

It is a bit sad though, the amount of things LG bungles up with this phone.
Introducing it mid 2017 and then letting people wait for months until they can purchase it? Bad
Releasing it late 2017 for a price, that the competitiors had mid 2017 (those being much cheaper now)? Even worse.
Not delivering updates to the phone deep into 2018 now? A stab at the customer if there ever was one.

See LG, having a good product and not selling it - when offering it at last, making it overpriced - and then not delivering services that could be easily achieved (as the competitors Show) is one thing.
Being all moody because you don't sell phones is seriously unprofessional.
Deciding "if you don't buy my stuff, I stop producing it" is just plain dumb.

The market is a place to be conquered. You can't conquer a place you don't go to.

Making a bad Marketing strategy worse with dumb decisions make me fear for LG's mobile division. It would be a shame if the mobile world is a place divided by Samsung and Apple.

But isn't it the case that if you are on an unlocked model you will be waiting even longer - an infinite amount of time? It's my understanding, based *solely* on what I have read here and in other similar places that LG never issues updates (instead deferring to the carriers, who then exclude the unlocked models from the updates).

I'd love to be wrong, but I'm not sure I have ever seen someone say "I have an unlocked LG mumble-mumble and I just got an OS update".

This is the main thing preventing me from buying the unlocked model (I don't care much about Wi-Fi calling or VoLTE).
