Is Samsung prioritizing the S6 Edge + over Note 5?

Hello everybody,

Just wondering if anybody feels that Samsung is pushing the edge plus over the Note 5? I'm not sure if this is the strongest evidence for this, but literally every time they mention both phones, they mention the edge plus first. At a few Best Buy's that I've went to, they have these miniature billboards for the edge plus while they have nothing for the note 5. I'm not sure if I'm looking into this too much, but I was wondering what everybody else thought? Thanks.

The edge plus is more expensive than the note 5 so maybe they might be. Also the s6e plus may be a harder sell because the regular s6e was just released 4 months ago and alot of people that would of bought the s6e plus are now stuck with the regular s6e.

You are reading too much into it... but like bplink says, the S6 Edge + is a more expensive unit. General availability, at least for carriers, is more for the Note 5 than for the Edge. HOWEVER, Samsung did decide to push back the Note 5 launch in Europe and focus on the Edge for the remainder of the year, after all.

I've had the edge plus and decided to go back to the note 5. the edge functionality wore off after a few days. It seems a bit foolish, however, imho to push for the edge plus when the note is cheaper, has more functionality, and actually feels better in the hand. That said, most people simply buy phones based on their looks and nothing looks as beautiful as the edge plus.

it seems that way, the s-pen isn't considered as a selling point to anywhere other then the US it seems & the note series wasn't doing to well in Europe from what i have gathered with the Edge+ push over there.

lets face it tho the Edge is unique & very beautiful and Samsung will get more functionality to it over time while its only been released since April

Functionality depends on the individual.... I use my people edge and apps edge about 30 times a day minimum when I had the note 4 I used the s pen maybe 1 or 2 times a day tops. So for me the s6e plus is a lot more functional than the Note 5....

I agree with this. I like having the s pen but I don't use it all that often. I'll take some notes or stuff like that, and I love scrolling through stuff with the pen but i don't absolutely need an s pen. I think the app edge feature is pretty useful and functional.

The rep at my Best Buy was trying to talk me into the Note 5 saying the s6e+ wasn't worth it. Same phone without the stylus IMO. S6e+ is way sexier too.

I think if the note came in gold or silver it would be a tighter race. The edge+ in gold really stands out as the most gift end looking phone available. I was throughly tired of plastic galaxies, nexus, and everything else. I love having a premium feeling and looking phone.

I've had every note since Note2, and I never use the pen. I wanted a note for the screen size (as i'm sure many people like me do)

The edge is a spectacular looking phone and I never once wanted a note 5 once I knew the edge + was coming out.

And then you slap a plastic case around it :D

(Sorry, had to take the stab haha). That being out of my system, I do love how the build feels now compared to plastic, but I do miss the light weight that allowed them to have on big phones. These are still manageable, but if made out of carbon fiber and plastics it could have been lighter.

Good point. I am an artist and used the pen very intensely to draw and sketch ideas on the go and mark up documents. In stretches I would use the pen daily but I would go months without using it (I had Note2,3 and 4). That worked very well for me BUT. I would NEVER discount the possible importance of it OR the Edge as work and user interactivity is extremely relative.

What is "useful" has everything to do with the user. The on the Note 5 was useless to many 3 generations ago and has gained "usefulness" traction and popularity reach year. Much like large colour screens and cameras on phones which were questioned in the same way 15 years ago.

I remember my old palm pilot and it's pen and even my P800 both got me strange looks in their time. Haha

The note is outselling the edge+. If they are emphasizing it then it may be to drive sales. Apple has been making money the last 5 quarters on phone sales and Samsung has been not making its minimum projections so I'd assume it's all sales driven.

The biggest reason note 5 is outselling s6e plus is because Sammy screwed all the regular s6e edge users by releasing the s6e plus 4 months later. If the s6e and s6e plus had been released on the same day the s6e plus sales numbers would of been a lot higher. I'm curious what they plan on doing in 7 months when it's time to release the s7? Hopefully they will release the s7 edge and s7 edge plus at the same time. The note 5s sales would of been better as well if the s6e plus wasn't eating in to them.... Sammy really made a mess of things with the way they released phones this year.

Well, they're globally pushing the EDGE over the Note 5 - they're not even releasing the Note 5 in Europe, for example

I find this different. Managing a cell phone store I see the note 5 being pushed a little more. However, the edge plus is more of the flagship phone as people love the "new" factor of it.

I think they should have introduced a pen with the s6 edge plus. And just called it the note 5 edge. To eliminate the fear of loss that current s6 edge owners might be feeling after having the phone released 4 months after the original s6 edge.

100,000 Edge Pluses in Korea alone makes the 10,000 Note 5s in the US seem paltry.
