Is sense 5 less cluttered?

Hey guys. I don't own the One(not until verizon comes out with it anyways). I'm a webos user, but I've used an iphone, htc thunderbolt(briefly), and a galaxy nexus. I also own a nexus 7 tablet.

I spent some time playing with samsung touchwiz phones, and I notice they're awfully cluttered - there' just too much on the screen, and unecessary options where sane daults should do just fine. I really like a phone that displays *less* UI (in favor of content), than lots of options everywhere cluttering the UI. After looking at the Galaxy Note 2, I was impressed with the hardware, but was distracted by all the unecessary options, notably the garrish notification slider, and for that reason I'm looking into the HTC One. Android 4+ has drastically improved against the cluttered feeling, and I'm wondering if sense 5 does the same.

Would you say that the htc one has a clean/sane interface and less clutter than the touchwiz phones?

Coming from TW Sense handles a lot better! But items like Blinkfeed can not be turned off. I still think the HTC One handles its UI better. But what I would do is just download NOVA launcher and use that. Better on the battery and over all better experience on the HTC One. If you like Blinkfeed then stick it out with Sense. There is nothing wrong with Sense per say I just like Nova. :)

I love love webOS. But since there is no more hardware, I also moved to Android about a year and a half back.

Sense 5 is not cluttered at all. But really, keep in mind that android allows one VERY powerful feature: launchers.

I, for example, don't use Sense. I have replaced it with Buzz Launcher and Nova Launcher with a few enhancements like sliding notification and an action bar on the side. So my software looks much different than sense and I have it set up just the way I like it.

I wouldn't worry about software things with android, as they can always be changed.

It really is a beautiful thing.

I can give you an honest answer because this is my first Android phone ever (and I am sooooooo happy I made the switch BTW). I have owed nothing but BlackBerry devices since '07 and I finally made the switch to Android about a month ago and I had no preconceived notions of what to expect other than the reviews I read online. In other words I was an Android-virgin and I think that is best kind of person to talk to when you are looking for an unbiased honest opinion.

First, I like Sense. I wish it had a bid more functionality in the "customize home screen" page but other than that I find Sense to be minimalistic and good-looking. It seems people either like or dislike BlinkFeed and I happen to be one of the one's who likes it. I highly recommend using the Nova launcher as your default home screen and creating a shortcut to BlinkFeed. This way you can toggle back and forth with the simple press of a button (on mine it's in the launch bar). This way you get the best of both worlds...a customizable home screen with BlinkFeed "hidden" with the option to switch over to BlinkFeed if you want to use it because HTC has created a nice Flip-Board-Like app that aggregates your favorite content quite nicely. If you are interested in this set-up check out BlinkFeed With Action Launcher.
