Is the 16:9 aspect ratio of the HTC U11 ok?

I'm seriously considering the US Unlocked HTC U11 128GB/6GB RAM, but was hoping to get thoughts on aspect ratio.

I've been using an iPhone 6S Plus for the past 2 years and am considering leaving it for an Unlocked Android phone. I've had zero problems with 16:9 on iPhone or past Android phones.

However, I've noticed a lot of other manufacturers have been putting out 18:9 phones like Samsung, LG, etc. Finally had a chance to use a U11 last night and found I liked it better than the S8, S8+, and Note 8. I typically own my phone for 2 years before moving on to another and am wondering if digital media is headed towards 18:9 going forward. Should I be concerned that HTC went with the more conventional 16:9?

I greatly appreciate the community's perspective.

Wide screen HD video is 16:9 so it still make sense to me for the phone to be 16:9...... Not sure if digital media is going to 18:9, but I'm pretty sure video isn't with home TV's at 16:9.....

One of the main things I like about this phone, the screen looks really good and it's in the proper aspect ratio, 16:9. I really do not like these skinny tall phones that are coming out this year. This is one of the few 2017 speced phones with a normal screen. Everything else about the phone is pretty great also.

I'm with you -- I actually prefer the now old-school 16:9 phones with bezels.

Count me in for 16:9 aspect ratio. Before I sent the red U11 back for the blue one I traded it for an S8 for 24 hrs with a friend just to test it out. At this point in time the 16:9 is my preference as the S8 was no easier to reach the top of the screen and actually harder than the U11. Everything just seemed awkward for me.

I really like that ratio, too. I think the HTC U11 was beautifully and strategically engineered. Go for it! :)
