is the battery life really as terrible as online reviews state...

The first time I used it, yes, it got around 4 hours.

However, after a few days, I noticed it got better.

In fact, I turned everything on to see how fast it'll drain the battery.

I got close to 4 hours, with the back light on full

Maybe I have a lemon or maybe(likely) there are fanbois itt that are not being honest but I wouldn't expect more then 2 hours of websurfing or an hour and a half of video with the evo. There is a reason every evo forum has about 10 threads on battery life. The battery life is okay as long as you don't use any features.

Got maybe 6 hours on average the first couple days. Then it got a bit better (maybe 8 hours). Earlier this week, I went in and changed some settings and started getting closer to 10. THEN I turned off data roaming and did a hard reset... now it's been 29 hours and I'm still at 66% (admittedly lite use). Sad I have to shut off some bells & whistles to get decent battery life, but it's really not that big of a bother for me.

Battery life, well I don't turn GPS off for anything and only use 4G when I surf the web and I seem to be getting great battery life here in KC. I take my phone off the charger around 8 in the morning and don't charge again till 11pm at night and usually have at least 30% battery left. How can I be disappointed with that?
