Is the battery really terrible on all s5's?

Ive read on alot of places online and there is hundreds if not thousands of people complaining that the s5's battery is draining really quickly..

I converted from HTC that i was more than happy with battery performance to buy an s5 and i can say im not alone in this but the battery life is abismal going from 100% fully charged to around 80% mark within an hour of normal usage maybe a game for 30mins and internet for 30mins.. On my old HTC it was nowhere near this bad and if the s5 of mine is used for longer the drain is constant and in my opinion very quick.

Anybody any tips? i have done loads and followed lots of opinions online and theres just no change to the battery.. I let it drain to like 10% then fully charge to 100% before reusing and have tried all sorts.

Very disappointing for what is a quite brilliant phone but im kind of regretting not getting the HTC One M8 now.

Is there a better battery i could buy?? any help?

Welcome to the forums.
Can you post some pictures of the battery stats, please?
How old is the device? Often, you need to go through several charge cycles in order for the battery to get into the swing of things.

Welcome to the forum. There could be something running in the background that is causing the significant drain on your battery. I normally drain my battery down till 20 percent then charge it completely. You also have power saving mode and ultra power saving mode. Generally my battery last complete day before I have to charge it. It all depends on how you use your phone. I hope this helps a bit good luck.

Install "Battery Guru" free in the Playstore. Let it run a few days and "learn" how you use the device. It increased my battery life on a daily basis by almost 40%.

That's not really enough information...what game(s) were you playing and what site(s) were you surfing?

Obviously something like NFS is going to use more power than Candy Crush.....same with the websurfing. Videos and graphics consume more power than text and simple html.

Golfdriver thanks for the reply ive heard that about the battery being charged a few times but how do you determine when enoughs enough.. The device is 3 weeks old but ive only used it fully for 1 week as i still had my old phone to use..
as it stands my battery is currently on 92% and it says 1h 46m 43s on battery surely this cannot be right?..

it says

Screen 56%
Words (game) 12%
Cell Standby 11%
Android System 8%
Device Idle 6%
Android OS 5%
Facebook 2%
Google Play Services 2%

I have Power Saving turned on and my screen is pretty dim.. Syncing on the device i have completely off ... Location Off.. Bluetooth Off..

BrianSmash thanks for the reply i dont play 3d games just go on facebook twitter and words with friends.. i havent used youtube yet on the device or viewed online vids i havent needed to.. I havent even taken pics or anything.. Im just using it like i would have been doing my old HTC phone but the battery isnt taking it it seems..

You've lost 8% in an hour and 45 minutes. I wouldn't say with what you have shown that battery life is bad at all. I'd still install Battery Guru let it run for a few days and see how it can help.

One thing seems high and that's cell standby. How is the signal strength in your area. You may be experiencing a poor or marginal signal strength issue causing the battery extra stress keeping connected.

signal is normally 3/4 bars..

I thought 1h 46m 43s On Battery meant that that was all that was remaining of the batterys usage left..?

No, the 1h 46m 43s is time used not time remaining.

Go enjoy your phone ... :sly::thumbup:

In the notifications bar it should show you the percentage of battery remaining.

Also I still recommend installing Battery Guru to help out. It could improve your battery life even more.

I use TouchWiz. There are lots of other launchers out there and lots of people with more experience with them than myself. I'm sure if you do a search on launchers here in the forums you'll get a tremendous amount of information about what is available how well they perform.

Being a new user you'll find the forums a tremendous help in not only getting started but for great information on an ongoing basis.

Welcome to the forums and enjoy.!!

thanks pal im always looking for tips and new things to get the best out of the phone and its features etc

If you went into SETTINGS and opened BATTERY, the time you see is the amount of time off of a charger and powered by the battery.
