Is the extended battery for the Galaxy Nexus worth it?

So I'm finally back in the Android game, this time with a shiny new Verizon Galaxy Nexus. Love it so far, but the battery life is already a pretty huge drag.

I'd like to buy the extended battery, but first, have you guys noticed a significant increase in battery life with one? Is there enough of a bump to justify the pricetag?

For 34.00 ( I got it when it was 25.00) I dunno.

For 25.00 it was half off so definitely worth it when I bought the phone at launch.
Nice thing is the standard battery fits the extended battery case without issue.

The stock firmware and battery rarely get over 3.5hrs of on-screen time. Rooted and ROMed with stock battery I was able to get nearly 5hrs of on-screen time. I never tried the stock extended 2100mAh battery but the 250mAh increase can't add more than 30-40mins to on-screen time so it never impressed me. I bought a set of two 3800mAh batteries with custom covers and a cradle charger for $29.99. They give about 6-7hrs of on-screen time with custom ROM. Since I always have a ready charged battery sitting in the cradle charger I have no down time tethered to an outlet. If you research lithium-ion batteries you will find alot of information about how these new batteries can benefit greatly recharging the battery at 30-50% nearly quadrupling their recharge cycle count.

No NFC-support with these:

The Seidio extended battery cover fits the above set:

Yes

I'm seeing a huge improvement with the Seidio 3800mAh. With wifi off, it lasts a couple days - although I do put it on the charger every night.

The only thing to keep in mind is the new back cover almost doubles the thickness of the device, which makes finding a case a bit of a challenge. I'm using a Blackberry Torch case with the belt clip broken off at the moment.

I got the 2100 extended. It makes a huge difference. The new cover actually makes the phone flat on the back, a look I prefer to the original swayback.

Your regular battery cover will fit the OEM 2100 battery :)

I think the oem extended battery is well worth it. Everyone's usage varies. We don't have access yet to 4G, and our 3G isn't consistent. That said, the extended battery made a substantial difference for me.

Conditioning the battery from the get-go also made a nice improvement in battery life.

The OEM extended battery is not a large increase in capacity or physical size but it makes a significant difference in the life between charges. Under relatively heavy use it might only last from 1-3 hours longer than the standard battery. Yet, with moderate to light use it sometimes lasts 5-7 hours longer between charges.

However, I prefer having an extra battery available, so even though I bought the extended battery, I also bought the battery charging kit that includes and extra standard battery. I carry that standard battery in my back pocket regardless of whether i am using the extended or that original battery. I also prefer the slightly thinner feel with the standard battery.

Ditto to all that

Imma gonna go buy one today. Been with the standard batt from launch day and its not impressive at all. I do the switch kernel, lower voltage dance and its marginal at best. I be willing to drop some bucks for a couple hour buzz. :)

It doesn't hurt but it doesn't really add all that much. As said, it really depends on how you use the phone and how often. But the side benefit is the fact you'll have an extra battery on hand. Its worth it for that if anything.

+1....

Just picked one up. My local vz store still had the 50% off promotion. The stock tpu case I have still fits barely. Looking forward to a couple more hours of juice.

Just tried this after reading ur post. It does fit but tightly. The tpu case goes on better too. Gonna run it like this till it blows up due to battery constriction. :-P

Would the incipio silicrylic case still fit with the OEM extended battery?
