Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

I'm switching from the iphone 5 and have decided to get the galaxy s6. I am undecided on whether to get the s6 or s6 edge. I don't mind paying the extra if it is worth it. The only thing I am worried about it how it will feel in the hand for long periods of time, and if the glare on the curved edges will be a real problem.

The glare and daily use hasn't been an issue for me. Comfort depends on how you hold it.

I don't "grip" my phone so much as it rests in my hand. So for me it's not an issue. If you grip your phone (wrap your fingers around it) the regular will probably be better (based on holding one in the store).

As for the utility of the edge, I don't really use any of the special edge only features. Maybe occasionally I use the quick contact thing from the home screen, but I got the Edge because I thought it looked really cool. That and it didn't affect my usage of the phone at all.

It is a bit harder to hold especially if you touch the sides. A case can help mitigate it. Glare hasn't been a problem for me.

With that said it is more of a cosmetic thing. Not much practical functionality for me.

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

Holding it for me was easier than the regular 6. I bought be edge mostly because of the looks as it looks fantastic and feels fantastic. This is easily the best phone I have owned and I have owned a lot. It's is not perfect. I find the touch ID sensor is lacking and doesn't work all the time. And the first couple of days the battery was not good. But now after disabling the bloat the battery is better then my iPhone 6.

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

In my opinion, yes. I do not notice the glare too much and the grip is actually better for me. Obviously that can depend on how sensitive your hands are but with a case it is definitely not an issue.

But it is worth it for me because it is so dang nice. I originally got the S6 and it just looks so bland. The edge is truly a unique device that pops. The features are definitely weak. I only utilize the night clock and every now and then the Edge contacts but it is all about the futuristic looks with this one. I say give it a try and if it doesn't work you can always switch.

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

I got the edge because it gives the device somewhat of a 'z' axis, it looks and feels more immersive. I didn't get it for functionality. I think my expectations have allowed me to appreciate people edge and the edge clock more than people who got the edge for edge functions.

What other manufacturer besides Samsung with the Note 5 is going to release a device like the edge? Nobody.

The edge is a work of art.

If you want edge features don't bother you'll be disappointed. Like most, I bought it because of the Design.

No problems with glare either and after a week battery life improved.

Finger Printer is not close to Apple's Touch ID, getting 90-95% because it's not circular.

I totally think it's worth it. To address your concerns: I thought the glare would bug me (I'm super OCD) but it doesn't. The way it feels in the hand took a little getting used to, but now that I'm used to it I think it's better because I can hang onto it snugly when I'm walking with it (doesn't slip), and when I'm sitting it just rests in my hand like someone else said. I spent a long time deciding Edge or regular and I'm sooooo glad I got the edge, I definitely would have regretted it if I didn't

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

Like others, I think it's totally worth it. I would have regretted not getting the Edge as well. I love the feel in hand much more than the regular S6.

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

Right now getting an Edge is based mostly on your opinion of the design and a little bit of the future functionality of the curve. As for me I don't regret getting one.

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

I have decided that the only way to truly test a phone is to make it your daily driver.. I made the S6 Edge my driver for the last week and I have to tell you, I didn't like it. I had the Iphone 6+ before... I was at my daughters softball game and the glare made the screen un-watchable. I had to send a few emails and text from the field and couldn't do it.

I did not have a case on it and it felt so slippery in my hand, I thought that every time I reached for it, it was about to slip on out of my hand.

On the plus side, I found the battery to be pretty good. It got me though the day and I plug in every night, so that is not a concern. It is also the best looking phone EVER. It is gorgeous and it is a pleasure to look at (indoors).

Not going to give a full review, but I am sending mine back today. It is virtually useless outside.

The best feature of the S6 Edge is when you swipe your fingers on the screen you will not hit anything on the side. Its smooth at the edge.

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

Yes the s6 looks phony

The s6 edge is revolutionary and the design is flawless..

The edge feature is a gimmick but makes a phone a stud

I bought mine for the screen. There's just something really beautiful about not having a bezel and having a screen that wraps edge to edge.

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

I have both, and I prefer the way the S6 feels in my hand. However, I love the edge and use it as my daily driver. You have to actually see/hold them to decide (IMO). As most have already mentioned, the edge is mainly for looks and doesn't offer much. I don't believe you can go wrong with the regular S6 if you are on a tight budget.

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

I went to Best Buy and took both phones next to each other to make not easy decision if extra 100$ make sense to spent.
In a minute Decision was made toward edge. Its something brand new in technology no one else offering, in my opinion big step forward for next year or two.
I like curved screen a lot vs flat.

So you're saying that a regular S6, or any other phone with a flat screen at the edges DOES NOT have glare when outside in the sun?

Come on, they're all made of basically the same Gorilla Glass and will show glare or reflect light just as much!

The curved edges have nothing to do with glare in the sun! ;)

I figured after shelling out mega $$$$$ in the first place I might as well go all the way and get the one that DOES NOT look like any other phone in the market...yet!

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

It's an aesthetic choice. It's a stunning phone. I posted this in another thread earlier, but someone asked me today (sincerely) if my Edge was an iPhone 7. But functionally, they are very similar.

There is a glare along the curve in bright light but it is hardly unusable. There are other use detractions with the curve (clicking on icons that bend around the curve are not quite as responsive) but neither drawback has been too bad and are more than offset by the aesthetic value, IMNSHO.

I started with the s6 ,had it for a week and thought I was missing something. Exchanged for the edge ,had that for 3 days and came back to s6.

The phone was beautiful ,but I just couldn't adjust to reading when it rolled off the edge. I also couldn't get over the glare. But honestly ,biggest problem for me was having a screen protector and case work together. I went through 3 different protectors and once I put my case on protector would start peeling from one part of display or another. I like glass protectors and didn't feel I could be comfortable enough with the edge. In a case ,if dropped at angle there is a bigger chance of breaking display than on regular flat screen. For me to be comfortable with phone I went back to s6 ,glass protector, case ,and I am a happy camper, lol.

Re: Is the galaxy s6 edge worth getting over the regular s6

I am not saying the S6 is any better. I am only commenting on the S6 edge because that is what I bought. I would assume that the S6 is the same. I would add that my iphone 6 + has much less glare and is much better outside.
