Is the Galaxy S9+ too big?

It’s still narrower than my current iPhone 8+. It is slightly thicker though.

I just handled each in the Samsung store. I think I'll have to tap out from the 9+. I laid my S7 nonedge on top of the s9 non plus and it was only a few mm shorter. Better size for me as far as pocketability. The 9+ looked much larger.

As per GSMArena IIRC the S9+ is a full cm taller. Here's a pic of my S7 Edge and S9+ in store.

I'm tapping out of the + same reason as you. I don't see myself using the telephoto lens, and my S7E runs with 1.3GB RAM free normally, so I think I'm gonna be fine with the smaller one too. 20180304_174757.jpg

Re: Advantage of S9/S9+ done S8

Very slight improvements in these areas:

Battery life
Speed and smoothness
Screen
Speakers
Camera
Biometrics (intelligent scan)
Fingerprint sensor position
Signal with T-Mobile
One hand usability

I constantly charge my note8 all day the standby drain is bad. I have to constantly keep wiping my system cache. The note 8 was good but even when I had the S8 Plus that lasted much longer.

The S8 plus had a larger battery, plus of course the EM fields emitter will use more battery than a plain screen. I don't have Note 8, but I remember a previous Note I had there was an option to save battery where S Pen detection automatically turns off when it is inserted.

The S9+ is clearly big but that picture is not a good comparison. The S9+ is at higher level from the table and the other one inclined.
That and the s7 is angled. The s9 plus is definitely bigger but not that much. Here's the exact difference. This is from phonearenas website. Not my doing. I can't take credit.

Here's the s7 edge compared to the regular s9. Again. From phonearenas. The s9 is in front this time.

And last but not least here's the difference between the 2 different s9 variants. Hope this helps.

Re: Advantage of S9/S9+ done S8

Don't let people simplify what huge amounts of refinement went into the S9 series. Just because it looks so similar doesn't mean there isn't a lot new.
here is a small list...
Louder stereo speaker.
Better build using thicker glass and frame.
New faster processor.
6gb RAM on the plus model.
Better placement of the finger sensor.
Hugely better camera with variable aperture, 960fps 4k, 240fps 1080.
Battery optimizations.
Better screen, it's brighter with ever so slightly bezels.
256gb storage options (Australia anyway).
AR emoticons (if you care).
Larger SD card support.
LTE aggregation to 1.2gbps
Better/faster face login with combined access to iris and face working simultaneously.
Landscape mode in launcher.

and that's just off the top of my head.

The S9+ in the picture was inclined too. But yeah didn't notice the difference in height when I put them side by side.

In the end however, I felt the S9+ too big in the hand. Lately I've been needing to weild my phones with one hand, and the S7 Edge is already my limit at one hand weilding with a style ring on it. The smaller S9 would be more manageable.

Re: Advantage of S9/S9+ done S8

I'm coming from the S8 to the note 8 to the S9 and I'm excited, mainly because the note is a bit uncomfortable for me to use. So I'm looking forward to getting back to a smaller form factor, plus any new features. Every year I get the Note and every year I sell it after like 4 months. Love the phone but I suffer from rsi so it becomes a problem.

I agree with you. The S9 seems to be an easier "fit," so to speak.

a mm? [ Insert Tony Stark eye rolling gif here ] OMG how many times are we going to have the same exact discussion? The S8+ has been out for nearly a year. You know the PLUS will be bigger than the S9... if someone didn't buy the S8+ or the Note 8 because it was too big why do they need to even ask about the S9+? YOU KNOW IT WILL BE TOO BIG FOR YOU.

The S8+ is a great device when it comes to size. I personally think it isn't big enough. The only issue I have with it is the lack of updating priorities.
