Is the GPS sensor disabled in Airplane mode?

Airplane mode question

Can anyone confirm that when you go into Airplane mode, that the GPS sensor is also disabled?
Is this dependent on the hardware (Motorola, HTC, LG, Samsung) or is it a function of the version of Droid OS? Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! GPS does stay on when you turn on Airplane Mode--just tested it on my Nexus 5 running Lollipop 5.1. I don't know for certain, but I would think that this is a standard function across Android devices.
