I'll say yes since honor/Huawei allowed the 5X to unlock the bootloader.

What would rooting and re-romming accomplish?
A different ROM might actually ruin the phone.

That would depend on the rom. But in theory it could.

Wouldn't someone just be able to put back stock software and then send it in for warranty?
