Is the HTC One charging port supposed to be a bit loose?

When I plug the cable in it wiggles a bit from left to right. Is this normal for the HTC Ones or do I have a weird one?

same with mine. i can still charge and sync.
if it were to get any worse, i'd suggest having it
looked at.

To keep your One tight you should be gentle when plugging it in. Don't just ram it in there. You don't want your new One becoming a loosey goosey. Then any chargers will seem like you are throwing a baseball down a hallway.

I try to be careful not to bend the charger when charging while talking or eating a sandwich. Some car chargers are coiled and can tug too much when you have it up to your head talking while its charging. I try to use the straight chargers like the home charger even in the car.

One thing I have noticed is not all chargers are the same size. Some have more girth and fit tighter. For example, my iGo charger fits more snug than my Chinese eBay one.

I have had mine for about 3 months now. And it still fits like a glove. Just be careful when plugging it in if at all possible.

For me, it's a bit loose with the original HTC micro usb cable. But I used the other htc micro usb cables and brandless ones and the fit was snug.

This is some of the best advice! Everyone should do this

If I don't use the original cable I get a "looser" fit. Even the original cable has some play left-to-right but it makes a snapping sound when you connect it so you know it's secure. Overall with the original cable I would say it's a very good fit. That's why I bought 2 more OEM cables from Amazon the other day.

Mine does that. With issues like that here is what goes through my mind:

Does it work?

If the answer is yes, then great, keep the phone.

If it doesn't work, then exchange it.

You'll have a better experience with your phone when you don't worry too much about the little things.

It works, but I'm just scared that it'll get looser over time. The lady where I bought mine from said that the HTC one year warranty doesn't cover charging port problems so I just want to be extra careful.

I find it's usually the cable connector itself when it seems loose. Over time the metal gets stretched from plugging in and removing. Now if the whole port inside the phone wiggles, then it's going to fail on you. Had that happen with the OG Evo. Had to get a warranty replacement.

But so far with the One, I probably go through a cable every couple of months. I keep several cheap ones from Monoprice.com on hand and just toss them when they start to get loose. Once the next one starts to loosen up, lather, rinse repeat.

The thing is, mine came wiggly out of the box haha. I just bought it a few days ago so that's why I'm a bit worried :P

Hmm, if it was just a few days ago I'd take it back where you bought it and have them check it. Could be defective and hopefully they're just able to swap it out if you're in a trial period.

Mine is fine. Just like day one.

I've been using my Palm Pre charger since day one, and it's always been snug with no wiggling. :)

My wife has a Samsung charger that we leave in the living room and it seems to be wobbly when I plug it in.. Loose like a hot dog down a hallway but the htc charger is tight like a glove. I think it has to do with the brand of charger

When I got my phone 3 days before my 14 day window was up the charger port broke and wouldnt charge. "USB Host Device plugged in, not charging." I took it back to sprint and got a replacement, and he said be careful plugging it in and make sure you dont put it in upside down. Ive been kind of bad with that recently (It falls off my end table and the cord pulls, or I just yank it out) so now every time I plug in my phone my heart skips and I just think "The red light wont go on, I broke it" But then it dose and I sigh relief. He said I broke it the first time, and I was like "damn, this phone must be fragile as fu- then. It dosnt help the port is so damn small either, but whatever. It dose seem a bit loose though, wiigles a bit, but I dont care. As long as it works

I have the same issue too, buddy
but when I try to get some pointed metal and try to pick the inside of the phone(charger connector), its kind of stiff..
so my opinion was the charger connector itself is a bit smaller than the holein the phone where you put your charger in

yea, but when it wiggles, the red light on the right top which indicates whether its charging....sometimes get off
I have to find its right spot where it would charge continuesly

Being loose is quite common, but it doesn't prevent the phone from charging. If you are having charging problems in most cases it's probably because the port is just dirty! (dust can be [inappropriate language edited by Moderator] ). You can try blowing or with a toothpick to get out some of the rubbish.
