Incredible vs. EVO

I say who cares, both devices rock.
Both are 10x than any blackberry.
If the iphone was called a palm touch they wouldn't sell as much (cause if it's apple, everyone drinks the koolaid)

i care because i want THE BIGGEST, BADDEST, AND BEST!
true.
I am just saying we android users (or in my case recent convert) should be happy in general that these devices are coming out and are well designed.
I just visited CB for old times sake and the new flagship device has 512mb of memory LOL.
Oh and I like how they always say this is the device that xx model should have been.
Android just flat out rules and I for one think you can't go wrong with either device.
Follow up post: So true about Crackberry! scroll down to the bottome of your screen and you'll see all news from the sister sites of AC for other devices. The news right now on CB says,"new premium clock app" and "we unbox a Bold 9700 AND it's WHITE!" I remember when the 9700 came out.

I guess I'll play devil's advocate here for the sake of argument. Here are some reasons why one might consider the Incredible better than the EVO (I don't necessarily agree with these, I'm just listing them):
* Size - some people may prefer the smaller dimensions of the Incredible
* AMOLED screen is preferred by some
* Monthly cost - For those who use little to no texting (<250 messages/month), Verizon would only cost $70 or $75 / month depending on which texting option you choose. Sprint+EVO would require $80/month for the Everything Data + Premium Data add-on (yes, I realize you get unlimited texting with Sprint's plan, but to those who don't need it, it's a waste). With the mandatory $10/month fee, Sprint is no longer the cheapest option for everyone.
* Speed - we don't really know the answer to this yet. But it is certainly possible that the EVO in its current state is slower than the Incredible. The processor is the same, but the software is not. We don't really know. For all we know the kernels are quite a bit different because of the WiMax radio support (anyone who has done any Linux kernel development in the embedded world knows that sometimes vendor drivers can force you to switch your kernel base or require you to forward or back-port it). This is yet to be determined, but you guys certainly can't say that there is "no way" that the Incredible is faster. Software matters a lot.
The last thing I'll point out is that a lot of people probably won't care about the advantages that the EVO has over the Incredible:
* WiFi hotspot support: Largely irrelevant to many because not many will pay $30/month for it.
* Screen size: Seen as a disadvantage to some
* 4G/WiMax support: Not many cities have support for this yet. Based on the reviews so far, even 4G cities have spotty coverage (especially indoors). Finally, in many reviews the speeds aren't as high as Sprint is claiming for "typical" performance. Plus, given that 4G is such a huge drain on the battery, many will be forced to only using it occasionally.
* Front camera: A lot of people remain skeptical on video conferencing ever taking off
* HDMI out: This is another one of those features that will excite some users, but leave others scratching their head as to why they would ever really want it
That said, I'll *probably* end up getting the EVO myself, as I have access to a family plan that makes it more affordable. If I were on my own getting an individual plan, I'd likely go for the Incredible.
... I would say VZW is a better network, but that's where the advantages end. They're more expensive, their customer service is horrible, and they are not flexible at all with their policies. VZW would charge you to breathe if they could. I'll stick with Sprint thank you very much.

*Size - some people prefer flip phones and sliders too. Some prefer to read fully presented webpages and use a keyboard with more natural spacing. EVO is better.
*AMOLED - Have you tried to use the Incredible screen in open sunlight?? Yea I love brighter colors if I have to use two hands to provide shade for my phone to read it /sarcasm off. EVO wins
*Cost - Do an apples to apples comparison of equal plans and Sprint is consistently cost-competitive against other carriers. 450minutes and unlimited data, text = $10 diff to the benefit of Sprint versus Verizon. EVO wins.
*Speed - No we don't know the answer yet so why don't we just not comment?
----------------
As for your other points:
*Wifi HotSpot - Wherever your laptop is at, do you have your phone with you? The answer is yes. And since I pay $59.99 for a 5GB capped Mobile broadband for my lappy from Verizon - $29.99 just saved me 30bucks with Sprint with no bandwidth caps. So yea Verizon can SUCK IT.
*Screen Size - yea and chicks say size doesn't matter too /sarcasm off
*4G/WiMax - since most the cities haven't been fully lit up yet - let's hold off on the sniping since every review has shown 4G to be faster than 3G in all cases. Whether it is reaching Sprint's advertised rate versus reality, that's yet to be told. But hey don't listen to the guy who gets barely .5mb/s download throughput on Verizon's supposedly superior 3G service in some locations and almost 2mb/s in others..
*Front Facing Cam - I'll wait till someone posts a detail review of the QIK app before I open my yapper and pretend to talk for 'a lot of people'
Trust me I'm not banging Verizon (I use it, my wife has an Eris) - but dam these emo posts from folks nibling at every little detail to find fault where there is an obvious benefit just crack me up.
Very nice post. Personally, I would have loved if the Evo had an AMOLED screen, but only the one that is actually usable in sunlight (Samsung makes it). My Zune is horrible in the sun.
Speed wise, from the reviews, it looks like it's the same as the Incredible (It has the same core does it not?)
Both phones are great, both phones are Android. So in the end we all win.
It was not an "emo" post. People were sincerely asking how anyone could say that the Incredible was superior. I gave reasons why people might think so. Yes, they are mostly subjective. Yes, your own personal opinions differ. That's not exactly surprising. Your own subjective preferences don't make EVO superior for everyone else.
As far as mentioning the speed issue, I mentioned it specifically because others in this thread were making silly claims like "there's no way the EVO is slower".
