Is the Moto X second generation still viable?

I'm looking to upgrade my phone, but $400 for the new X Pure still seems too high for me. I don't want to go too cheap, though, and Motorola still sells the X2 for $299. I love my Moto X first generation model, but it doesn't have enough memory and the battery is shot.

I would only get a second gen Moto X Pure Edition - not a carrier version.

That was my thought. If for nothing else, cash price is $299, versus AT&T's next pricing is 18.90/month * 30 months = $567.
Then, you take other factors into account, like bloatware.
