Is the notch a deal breaker?

The notch isn't a deal breaker for me.
It's still to early for me to decide if I'm going to update to the P3 yet tho.
By Oct 1st I will know if I will update or not

As wonderful as my OG Pixel XL is, there is no other phone I could possibly buy. I don't care about the notch one way or another. I will be getting the Pixel 3 XL come hell or high water. If I have to stand on the street corner with a "will work for food" sign.

Everybody is whining over the notch when there are only two phone makers so far I believe that haven't done the notch, they have to start somewhere Unfortunately The Notch is where it's at right now after the notch they'll be bezel-less. The cameras and sensors have to be put somewhere.

I also have the iPhone X and while the notch is bothersome at the very beginning, you quickly get used to it. it's not going to be a deal breaker for me.

Right now I still feel very negative about the notch. I had fully intended to get the Pixel 3 XL but if there's a notch, I'll be in full revaluation mode.

Notch + huge chin is definitely a deal breaker. The notch only makes sense to me in the context of "hey, it's impossible rn to take away any more bezel than this for the sensors, so there you have it".

I could live with notch and minimal chin needed for front facing speaker, but that thing is unsightly.

And since I'll need to import, I can't really test to see if the pixel 3 is too small for me.. But it seems so. Oh well. Gonna have to wait for the pixel 4.

I have the Pixel 2 XL and love the phone. But if the P3 XL has a notch I will wait to get he P4 XL without a notch.

The notch is ugly IMHO.... I don't mind a little bezel to be honest.

I hope they will have the setting where you can make the whole top bar black so it doesn't have a notch.

Pixel 2xl owners! If the Pixel 3xl features the dreaded notch, will you upgrade? Or will you hold on to your current Pixel in protest?

For me personally, I believe I'd like to upgrade, although if not, hopefully Taimen will hold up. I do admit though I wish the headphone jack were still there.

For those on P beta you can simulate a notch in developer options. Just to see what it is like...
I am no notch fan personally.

You get the choice of corner cut, double notch or tall notch. Enjoy

I really don't see what the big deal is with the notch. I believe I read they will have software to hide it anyway. I couldn't care less about bezeless screens. the pixel 2 xl is the best phone I've ever used due to software and I will definitely be buying the 3.

That's not really a great representation as the screen on the 3 will be at the top of the phone. With the 2 xl you have the top forehead and then the notch under. Looks worse then it would on 3xl.

It's not going to look the same as in those pictures because you're going to lose some of the bezel which can't be displayed on the 2XL

That's exactly what it is. The chin and the top notch are unrelated. The chin is covering separate hardware components that are housed on the other side of the phone.

Not a deal breaker for me. When using an iPhone X I have no issue with the "notch" being there.

I don't care for the notch but not a deal breaker if it would serve to make the overall size smaller. With the bottom chin and a notch it's doubtful the overall size is going to be to my liking. Fortunately my P2 is still running so well that I don't think I'll be enticed to upgrade or need to.
Everyone says the iPhone X's notch just isn't noticible after awhile. I'm not all in on that. It sticks out like a sore , hammer hit thumb but just my opinion.
