Is the phone worth getting now with the 4.0.4?

If you believe the issues with the GNEX are not fixable by software, if they are because of faulty design why would you look forward to the next phone by the same manufacturer on the same carrier? Just asking. My two Gnex have been trouble free except for the volume and that was fixed with the ota.

Well, I'll give it some more time but the initial impression isn't good. My GN still isn't activated and I'm using my RAZR MAXX so I can't test but my son completed the update last night and we went on a trip this morning.

Once we left suburban Phoenix he had NO signal and couldn't use his phone at all for data or cell. I had constant signal the entire trip with my MAXX. He said in the past he would drop signal in this area but would have it sometimes, now with the 4.0.4 he had no signal all morning. He rebooted and cycled data to try and get it back without success.

For this reason I'm going to stick with my RAZR MAXX as the issues seem to continue with the GN.

Its the phone. I live in the same area and I didn't have signal issues before or after the update. Wife's Nexus works as advertised as well. If you are still having issues, even after the update...its likely a hardware problem. The only fix is going to be getting a replacement unfortunately.

Did you try a battery pull or restart, or anything? Perhaps a quick call to Verizon could straighten it out. I don't think a possible temporary hiccup in 4G service after an update is cause to say the phone isn't worth getting.

I love my phone and have since I got it at x-mas. I love it even more with 4.0.4. The data switching is better. I only recently rooted it but no Roms yet. It just works.

They're sending me a replacement Nexus. There is no question after being out all day that my 4G is weaker than it had been. I did all the usual things, reboot, battery pull, sim pull and reinsert. Nothing worked.

If the new phone is the same, I'll sell the Nexus and go with the Mot Max. I've really had enough of Samsung radios.

You could get them to switch for it

Fcuk.... I hate to jinx it, but I have seen a huge improvement since the update. Mine holds a 4g signal a hundred times better now, and the overall user experience is far better than I expected. Transitions are much improved...

That is not necessarily jinxing it. That was all expected when the leak came out last month. Most of us have preached its awesomeness and how amazing and smooth 4.0.4 has become. I am so far impressed with what it has had to offer so far.

Just get the S3 bro. The Galaxy Nexus is great but I just read the Verizon galaxy s3 is gonna have global capabilities, better camera and 2 gigs of ram. Just hold off till then.

some people have it around 350 on craiglist so I can't just try it out and return it.

still seems like a faulty product tho

damn you Samsung

You might want to look at one of the many Motorola or HTC phones.

just got the nexus yesterday since my incredible LCD broke for the second time. I got this semi used or pre powered nexus for 99. with my loyalty bonus i left with spending only $85 and im also grandfathered with Unlimited data. Now im having similar 4g signal loss and tend to loose signal and drop calls alot. idk what my next steps are? if i return it will they give me a brand new phone? this one even had slight scratches like it was used  i would wait out till the S3 comes but would i loose my grandfathering since VZ is killing that whole thing in the next week or 2?

Call them and get a replacement. Did you update it to 4.0.4? Should try that first.

From my experience, it's better to call their tech line for a replacement than going in to a store. They won't replace it for minor scratches but definitely will for stuff like signal issues.

Btw, where did you read vzw is killing the unlimited grandfather plan in a week or two?
