Android Central Question

Is the Pixel 3XL be worth purchasing or should I stick with my Pixel 2 XL?

'Worth the price' and 'worth purchasing' are different things. Which do you mean?

Hand on heart - stick with the Pixel 2 XL.

While the 3 XL does have a much better screen, the Pixel 2 does pretty much everything the 3 does. I personally don't think it's worth the upgrade.

I have the 2 XL and got the 3 XL and I don't think it was much of an upgrade.

it is, if it helps you replace a tablet or PC. Older folks, like me, can read bigger screens better.

This is such a subjective decision. The Pixel 3 XL is slightly better at most things, as you would expect. Most of the cool software items (Night Sight camera for example) are probably coming to the XL 2 over time, which may make it easier for you to stay pat. There are a few hardware differences that will grant a few new features, how much do you value them? Here is a quick hit from Tech Crunch that give a good comparison that may help you.

You are technically asking two separate questions based on the thread title and the actual question. In either case it's subjective.

Is the Pixel 3XL worth the price?
Is it worth purchasing as an upgrade from the 2XL?

The first question depends on where you feel it stands as a competitor in the market place and what you are willing to spend.

The second question is more personal because the 2XL can pretty much do the same thing as the 3XL and has an extra year on it's warranty. The 3XL does have a nicer screen, louder sound, wireless charging, the Titan security chip and some features aren't carrying over to the 2XL.

For me it was worth the upgrade but I sold my 2XL for a worthy amount which helps a bit. I would have probably bought it anyway even if I didn't sell the 2XL but since it still had half it's original value I decided to let it go unlike some other phones I've owned which had almost no value after 1 year.

This is a good question and I would like to know myself... I wish ram management is better on both phones though

People keep saying it's not worth the upgrade. It now has a water resistance rating, wireless charging and a better screen. These are all valid upgrades that seem to be continually overlooked. Now if these upgrades don't do it for you than go with a 2. They are great phones as well.

If you're comparing it to the 2 XL, it's worth it if you like a better screen but I'll take the battery on the Pixel 2 XL.

TBH I think the 2 XL is fine. You don't really gain much with the 3 XL since the software features will be coming to older Pixels and the cameras are pretty much the same.

Not disputing your overall argument, but the pixel 2 has a water resistant rating of IP67 which isn't really that different from ip68.

I just bought panda 2XL because I like the size.. 3XL is big notch and regular 3 is too small for me and believe it or not the 2XL I got had little to none blue tint maybe it's the new unit I'm not sure but I compared to 3XL at Best buy it look almost identical so I am very happy with my decision and so lucky to get the one with good screen.

I got my 3xl on the Verizon bogo so the price was right. Not sure if I had payed full price for two 3s how happy I'd be.

My daughter has a P2 and I will say it's been and continues to be a great phone.

Compare the specs...do you care about the IP rating?. Is a slightly better screen worth it? Does have a "newer" phone matter? Do you play music on the speakers and want it loud? Etc etc...

Coming from my old Motor Z Force I am in love with my 3 XL and having paid essentially $500 for it I'm as happy as a clam.

And after a few days I quite noticing the notch. Even stop using nacho notch. So I think for me the notch is a non-issue.

I don't know that it's a big enough step from a 2 to a 3 for the average consumer. People would have traded up 1 generation are more enthusiats than "everyday" consumers. If budget comes into play, I probably wouldn't. Just not picking up that much more between the two devices.

You can't tell the difference unless you look for the differences which aren't major.
