Is the removable battery that important?

I look at the issue with a different mindset than most; in that why give up the option of a user-replaceable battery for no tangible benefit other than a slimmer phone? Also, it?s not about how great battery life may be and if I can make it through a whole day on a charge. It?s more so about the inconvenience of having to ever tether the device to a charge, something you have to do with a sealed/embedded battery as you have no other choice. Frankly, I don?t like limiting my choices, especially in that way.

In comparison, with a user-replaceable battery I can have as many spares as I want and just swap them out as needed at any time. Then I can go about my business using the phone however I wish without concern if I?ll be near a charger to top off or having some type of charging pack stuck to the device encumbering its use.

Bottom line, I?d rather have the option of a user-replaceable battery and not use it (if I don?t want to) than to not have the option at all. :)

Yes...very well thought out...I swap batteries frequently in my HTC Sensation and though I have an external battery pack I use it ONLY with my tablet as swapping fully removable batteries is so quick and convenient. And yes since my Sensation is over two years old, and still going strong, a user replaceable battery costs me about $4...how much would a new battery installation cost on a HTC One?

I thought swappable battery was important, so I stayed with my Note 2 for a long time. Then I thought of how many times I actually used my spares. Now I have an HTC One and couldn't be happier.

I will admit, I wish the HTC ONE had a changeable battery; its not a game changer, or I would have bought the S4, but it would be nice to have.

I bought the Extra Battery Kit when I had the Samsung Galaxy S3 and used it twice so I sold it to my co-worker. I don't know anyone who has an extra battery either.

Before my illness of selling/upgrading every 4-6 months (LOL), my reason was what if the OEM battery dies meaning no longer fully charges or drains quickly. To be frank, I can't remember it happening to any of my phones.

I never had a removable battery with the countless iphones I have had. Never bothered me.

On my evo and storm I had a few "backup batteries" but never used them. Too cumbersome trying to keep the backups charged and with me.

So I came to the conclusion a removable battery wasn't that important to me. Instead, if my battery life starts suffering I'll get another phone under warranty or just grab a travel charger or charge case or something.

I've never liked permanent batteries! Batteries are always questionable when it comes to life no matter what you put it in. If my phone's battery fails, I don't want to take it to someone to have it replaced, despite the fact that I don't change batteries often (almost never). If that battery ever fails or I decide to change it because it doesn't seem to work as well as it used to, I should always have the ability to change it myself. I certainly don't want to have to get a new device because of a bad or weak battery, nor should I have to wait for replacement for a simple battery.
