Is the Verizon version unlocked

I keep hearing that on Verizon, its 4G LTE devices aren't locked. I ordered a Verizon m9 from eBay, can I just pop in a tmobile sim, fix apn and good to go?

I did it on a vzw note 3 for a trip to Mexico with a tmo sim- worked good. Didnt get 4G, but that could be due to service down there.

my friend has the m8 verizon on tmobile and gets great reception and lte(tri state area). I know they're different phones but can i expect the same?
