Is there a way to assign a starting "index" for pictures taken with camera?

Have an HTC 10 and recently upgraded to Oreo 8.0.

I have too much junk pictures and videos so I moved them to a USB drive and cleaned up a lot of stuff. HTC 10 (or is this Android?) named the image file IMAGxxxx.JPG where xxxx starts with 0001, 0002 etc...

Since I already have a lot of images on my thumb drives, all categorized in folders based on context. Now I have a bunch of new pictures taken after Oreo and it started with the counter IMAG0001.jpg again. Is there a way I can tell it to start from say IMAG5001? Or change the prefix to newIMAG0001.jpg?

Some file explorers can do that, but what might be easier is renaming the old photos. Doing that part on Windows is pretty simple, good explanation here: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-rename-multiple-files-bulk-windows-10
