Is there a way to lock my phone manually?

Is there a way to manually lock my phone? I want to be able to lock it and put it in my pocket or purse and not worry that I am hitting a button.
Please tell me there is a way....

Tap your Power key and the screen locks... but you have to hit a button to unlock, either the Power key again or the Home key. Otherwise go into Settings, Security and lock screen, Screen lock and set up one of the options there.

Just press the power key on the side briefly. Screen goes black, and the phone is locked.
Touch it again to unlock it, and swipe the screen.

Just click the same button on the right that you click to unlock.

I always unlcok it by hitting the home button, and then punching in my code...i didn't know how to actually lock it! Im new, bear with me.

It's all good . It's hard to turn the geeky mind off not realizing not everyone is like us who try and find out everything right away.. It's a gift and a curse lol
