Is there a way to Play sound over a phone call ??

I am a newbie in the android development area. I want to play a predefined sound over a phone call ( in the uplink direction) pragmatically . Is there any API so that i can play a sound over a phone call ? I search a lot of forum but i can't find a solution please someone help me.
