The symbol pi

Is there a way to type the pi symbol with an Android smartphone? I have a really cheap, not very powerful phone from t-mobile. Running a whole lot of apps is really not an option for me. My Windows 8 tablet and my iphone all have really easy keyboard shortcuts for this. I cannot seem to find a similar option on my android phone (it's for work).

Re: The symbol pi

¶ if this is pi it is available on the SwiftKey keyboard which you can download (and is nicer to use). I could not find it on my Samsung keyboard.

It may depend on the characters built in to the device, but it's worth a try of SwiftKey.

Tap the key bottom left until it says ABC, then tap the key above that. Pi, or π, should appear....though I guess it depends on what keyboard you're using. I'm using the Google keyboard.

Edit: Long-pressing it gives you the upper-case version, Π. :)

Re: The symbol pi

It looked like a pi symbol on an anorexic diet. Maybe it's something else.

If the Google keyboard has it, that may be better still.

There you've got me, but Madd54 will know, so stand by. :)

Re: The symbol pi

Hello. You cannot as far as I always knew. I looked again.

Any you see on the forums would be via the website input field / box thingy which has format settings.

Most email apps have these as well.

I use Tapatalk and the Android Central app and they don't have these options afaik.

I stand willing to be corrected though.

Re: The symbol pi

Sounds good, but Greek (EL) is not one of the 54 'tap to download' choices on my Galaxy S5 (Lollipop 5.0, kernel 3.4.0-4781399), under Keyboard in Settings.

I have looked at every set of long press choices available and I'm certain there is no pi symbol on the ABC or the 2 Sym (bol) keyboards contained in its default English (US) 'Input Language'. Yet it allows me to copy and paste it from elsewhere... e.g. π (from an article about how to access it on an iphone).

This is crazy look at the symbols that google keyboard can type. I have maybe 3,000 types of symbols embedded in a stock google keyboard. Faces 😍🙂😙🙄😂to birthday cakes🎂🍰, the russian sickle and hammer(cant find it but i seen it) theres even the atom⚛, theres every moon faze and sun faze🌒🌓🌕🌙🌘🌗🌖, clocks with almost every hour and minute⏱🕝🕑🕧🕜🕧, BUT THERES NO PI SYMBOL!!! no wonder are world is a mess, people are killing each other, and nonsence goes on. All because of examples like this. A top of the line tech company cant even make a good stock keyboard. Yea faces and clocks are way more important then standard math symbols. Cant google gravity equation cause theres no PI symbol.. Im stuck now! Thanks google for sucking like you always do!!!
