Is there an industry standard for device updates?

I mean like any type of "standard" where Android devices get 1 major Android OS upgrade per device (e.g. 6.x to 7.x) and minor updates for 2 years?

Is there a resource or site that discusses this or a resource/site that has a list of what different Android device manufacturers provide?

It's all up to the OEM.

If you want guaranteed OS updates, get a Nexus.

If you want monthly security patches, buy a Nexus or a BlackBerry.

That's it.

For most flagships from top OEMs, it's usually 2 major Android updates.

As for security updates, only Nexus devices, BlackBerry devices and several Samsung flagships (plus some midrangers) get timely security updates.

If you value Android updates, the Nexus is the only way to go. 2 years of OS updates and 3 years of security patches, guaranteed.

The only thing even remotely standardized is the naming convention... desert snack beginning with letters of the alphabet. But even then ten A and B are missing.
